Mick Boulanger is now editing the UK Section of MAR, after the long reign of Graeme, and has made an excellent start with his May section. Please send in all your UK reports (except for the US Bases at Fairford, Lakenheath and Mildenhall which still go to me - Brian) to Mick at the various addresses listed above. He has already added a couple of new locations to the list of airfields but he is always wanting to hear from anyone who can add reports for existing airfields covered or for ones that currently are not covered. In the latter category, he would be very pleased to receive reports for Marham and Valley and, also, Lossiemouth now that our regular reporter for many years has retired! The magazine this month is a much shortened version due to the Easter holidays removing a lot of movements around the UK and Europe and also a lack of reports from the USA - obviously April was not a good month for Europeans touring the States (probably the higher summer air fares kicking in might have had something to do with it!). We expect the June issue will be back to a more normal size with the start of the European and UK Air Show season. We have already had two RAF squadrons celebrate their 100th Anniversary - 2 Sqn at Marham and 3 Sqn at Coningsby - so this should add to the activities in the UK for the next two or three years. Please remember to send in your reports for all the shows you visit, no matter how large or small the military participation may be (and include warbirds please) to the various section editors, with as much detail as possible - many thanks and good spotting! COVER PHOTOGRAPH: An inmteresting transit through Shannon was this 317 AG C-130J-30 08-5693 which also carried a civilian registration N51008 and was using a Lockheed call sign - Lockheed 93 - seen here on the 19th (Malcolm Nason)) Closing date for the June issue is 08.06.12 Brian Pickering 16.05.12 238 BRITISH REVIEW First of all I would publicly like to thank Graeme and Caroline for the outstanding work they have produced over the last twenty years where they have worked tirelessly to supply an excellent publication for us all. Enjoy your free time, either, working on new projects, reading your book or walking your dog Bella. Having said that ,I will undertake the role of the British Section Editor of MAR I knew it was going to be a massive undertaking and boy was I right, but it is a role that I will carry out to the best of my abilities. Some of you may know me, but for those that don’t may I introduce myself. I am a 52 year old married father/grandfather. I’m a Train Driver for Virgin Trains, and I am one of the founder members of Wolverhampton Aviation Group which as most of you should know runs web sites like UK Serials, Demobbed, and Euro Demobbed. I also run the new The Jet Provost File web site and I am co-owner of Jet Provost T5A XW315 which is stored waiting for the right person to restore her. Thank you for all those people who have sent me reports of their local fields, please keep them coming as publications like MAR only exist by people sending in reports. It doesn’t matter how small they are, each report is a part of a bigger jigsaw puzzle. So please send them to me at or to my address on the previous page, the more the better.
