That’s why Europeana Newspapers is making 18 million historic newspaper pages searchable via two prominent digital culture websites: Europeana and The European Library.

• The scanned images of 10 million pages will be converted to full-text. This will help users quickly search for specific articles, people and locations mentioned in the newspaper.

• A special content viewer is also being developed to further improve newspaper browsing.

• For professionals, we are building tools to better assess the quality of newspaper digitisation in relation to levels of detail, speed and costs. www.europeana-newspapers.eu l
