From the town of Ayllón, in the foothills of the protected Guadarrama Mountains, explore the red stone villages and the medieval town of Riaza. Later head south towards Guadalajara, down the "black slate villages valley". Cycle on to Jadraque, dominated by the impressive "El Cid´s Castle" and follow the natural park of the "Rio Dulce Canyon", to reach the unique and magnificent medieval town of Siguenza. Every corner is a photo opportunity! Day 2: Ayllón - Riofrio de Riaza 53 km + 942 m Today you’ll receive your bicycle and begin your spectacular first route cycling amongst a vast oak woodland, discovering the quirky red stone villages typical of this area. Visit the medieval town of Riaza, with its fabulous main square, surrounded by colonnades topped with balconies and its gothic church with its renaissance tower. Day 3: Riofrio de Riaza - Camillo de Ranas 39 km + 771 m Today’s challenge up the Quesera mountain pass rewards you with an amazing views over the Guadalajara province. Here you will cycle through a very different landscape of open wooded valleys and the occasional little village, characterized by its traditional architecture using the singular local black slate. The small quiet roads descend into the remote “Tejera Negra Valey” where the stars shine bright at night far away from any light pollution. You will be captivated by these bewitching villages! Day 4: Campillo de Ranas - Cogulludo 36 km + 505 m Cycle along winding country roads, past interesting towns such as Tamajón and Muriel, with a chance for a swim at the Beleña reservoir. Today´s route takes you to Cogolludo where you can enjoy its palace and beautiful main square and inviting restaurants with airy terraces. Day 5: Cogolludo - Jadraque 39 km + 592 m Wide open spaces as you cycle past many small plateaux through traditional shepherding country. Look out for the solitary shepherd with his herd. After an uphill climb you are rewarded by fantastic views of the surrounding countryside and later descend in to the historic town of Jadraque, where its imposing castle dominates the landscape. Take time for an exhilarating dip in its crystal clear waters. After a short cycle ride from here you will reach the impressive historic town of Siguenza.     Annex nº2 GEOLOGICAL HERITAGE Preface The geological heritage interest of Molina and Alto Tajo is based primarily on three factors: - A large continuous sedimentary series, ranging from the Ordovician to the present with little stratigraphic gaps and where major events are recorded in the last 400 million years of earth history. - A network of rivers that have shaped canyons, exposing this sedimentary series. - The scarcity of population, infrastructure and industrial development have preserved geological heritage in optimal conditions for study. Geological general description of proposed Geopark B.2.1. Geologic and geographic framework of the area. With respect to geological framework, de Molina-Alto Tajo, is situated in the Castilian Branch of Iberian Range. The materials from which the geology of this region are mostly Mesozoic, although there are also materials Palaeozoic and Cenozoic. Outcrops of Palaeozoic materials appear discontinuously forming a series of “massif”. These outcrops whose orientation is NW-SE, are restricted to the nucleus of large structures of Castilian Branch of the Iberian Range. From a cronostratigraphic point of view these materials exhibit some ages ranging from the Ordovician to the Permian. The main materials are slate and quartzite. As Mesozoic materials, make up the biggest part of the geology of the region of Molina and even large part of the province of Guadalajara. Triassic and Jurassic materials outcropping in the region are represented by a succession of clastic and carbonate interbedded with marly rocks units formed in continental environments and marine.

El objetivo consiste en averiguar si hubo co- nexiones o no entre las acciones colectivas anteriores y posteriores a la rebelión militar del 18 de julio. Primero, relata y analiza la movilización social y política desarrollada durante la primera mi- tad del año. Después, describe y estudia la violencia política del resto del año. Las tesis principa- les del artículo sostienen que la violencia política no fue un factor determinante del proceso político durante los primeros seis meses y medio de 1936, que no hubo continuidad alguna entre la violen- cia política anterior y posterior al inicio de la guerra y que la conflictividad social y política previa a la guerra fue solo uno de los varios factores que explican la violencia política que siguió a la insu- rrección militar.     chapter 3 The Rural Hinterland of the Visigothic Capitals of Toledo and Reccopolis, between the Years 400–800CE Javier Martínez Jiménez When I first approached the topic of this volume,1 I felt that the recent archae- ological finds of Spain deserved attention from the broader (i.e., English speak- ing) academic world, as these finds were not often discussed in wider studies of early medieval and late antique rural transitions. This has thankfully improved since then.2 However, by presenting a case study from the Iberian Peninsula using the rich archaeological records, this paper aims to offer a comparative viewpoint from the “FarWest” and to put it in its context with the eastern exam- ples presented in this volume. The province of Madrid has numerous rural sites dating to the late Roman and Visigothic period which have been recently excavated and published, but very few of these places seem to continue archaeologically into the Umayyad period. By contrast, the evolution of the main towns of this area (Complutum and Reccopolis, and to a lesser extent, Toledo) is fairly well-known through- out this period. Strikingly, these two developments have hardly been studied together as part of the same historical processes. 1 This paper was written in 2010, and since then, some of the sites presented in this paper have been further published, and their context within the territory of Toledo in the transi- tion between the Visigothic and Umayyad periods has also been discussed in print. Context Azuqueca de Henares is a town of 22,000 inhabitants in the province of Guadalajara, 45 km to the north-east of Madrid, Spain Lately, the population in the area has increased steadily. Most of the new population used to come from different parts of Spain; today the new inhabitants come from eastern Europe, Latinamerica and the north of Africa. Azuqueca is on the river Henares, an industrial area crossed by the Madrid-Barcelona motorway and an important railway and with the vicinity of the international airport of Barajas. The main economic sectors are services, industry (manufacture, medicines, graphic arts and logistics) and building. Economic growth is constant. 2. Introduction To know the Best Practice Profile in Azuqueca de Henares, Guadalajara, Spain, we have followed these steps: 2.1. Contact with associations and institutions that are interested in the cooperation between the volunteers and the social work agencies . They were invited to hold a meeting on 13th October. Thirteen associations attended and were invited to do a short research on know how the aforementioned cooperation was approached. Some of the associations have a volunteer programme, others don’t but would like to (town council social centre, youth centre, etc.) 2.2. Research. A qualitative research was made aimed at knowing how the social work agencies cooperate with the volunteers. These were the points discussed: - how volunteers are recruited - level of cooperation between the social work agencies and the volunteers - training offered to volunteers - how are recognition and supervision of their work done Sample: We have studied the cases of six associations that do not cooperate with volunteers but would like to and six others that are experienced in that cooperation.
