Roscoe in an elevator shaft in his New York City office, arranged by a reputable contract killer known only as The Gentleman. In exchange for any potential charges being dropped, Alex is assigned by MI6 to investigate the motive behind the mysterious deaths of Roscoe and another billionaire, former KGB agent and head of the Foreign Intelligence ServiceGeneral Viktor Ivanov, who died when his private yacht exploded on the Black Sea. The only apparent connection between the two men is that they both had a son attending Point Blanc, an academy for the problem sons of billionaires in the French Alps run by a South African scientistDr. Hugo Grief. Alex then goes undercover as Alex Friend, supposedly the rebellious son of a supermarket magnate, Sir David Friend, and he spends a week with Sir David's family. However, during his stay with the family, he receives a hard time from Sir David's snooty daughter Fiona. After his stay with the family, Grief's assistant Mrs. Stellenboscharrives at the Friend's house by helicopter. However, as the cell is bugged, Mrs. Stellenbosch arrives, knocks Alex unconscious and turns Point Blanc Graphic Novel over to Dr. Grief, who then reveals his plan to take over the world, named "Project Gemini". Grief and Mrs Stellenbosch are both revealed to be supporters of the apartheid regime and former agents of the South African Bureau of State Security. However, Alex manages to outwit the pursuing guards, who are on snowmobiles, and almost makes it to the bottom of the mountain but encounters a machine gun, set at the foot of the mountain previously by Grief as a Point Blanc Graphic Novel, waiting for Point Blanc Graphic Novel. As the man fires, Alex jumps on top of an incoming train to evade the shots but falls and passes out. Alex is taken to hospital in Grenoblewhere a visiting Mrs Stellenbosch is told that Alex has died, and she observes a British Army group carrying a coffin, ostensibly containing Alex's corpse, off for Point Blanc Graphic Novel and Point Blanc Graphic Novel.

    GOING DOWN Michael J. Roscoe was a careful man. The car that drove him to work at seven fifteen each morning was a custom-made Mercedes with reinforced-steel doors and bullet-proof windows. His driver, a retired FBI agent, carried a Beretta sub-compact semi-automatic pistol and knew how to use it. There were just five steps from the point where the car stopped to the entrance of Roscoe Tower on New York’s Fifth Avenue, but CCTV cameras followed him every inch of the way. Once the automatic doors had slid shut behind him, a uniformed receptionist – also armed – watched as he crossed the foyer and entered his own private lift. The lift had white marble walls, a blue carpet, a silver handrail and no buttons. Roscoe pressed 9 his hand against a small glass panel. A sensor read his fingerprints, verified them and activated the lift. The doors slid shut and the lift rose to the sixtieth floor without stopping. Nobody else ever used it. Nor did it ever stop at any of the other floors in the building. While it was travel- ling up, the receptionist was on the telephone, letting Mr Roscoe’s staff know that he was on his way. Everyone who worked in Roscoe’s private office had been hand-picked and thoroughly vetted. It was impossible to see him without an appoint- ment. Getting an appointment could take three months.
