  • Foyle DAB Ltd
Small-scale radio multiplex licence Application form – Part A (public) Name of applicant (i.e. the body corporate that will hold the licence): Foyle DAB Ltd Multiplex licence area being applied for (note this must be a small-scale multiplex area currently being advertised by Ofcom): DERRY Public contact details: Name: Richard Moore Email: [email protected] Address: 2 St Joseph’s Avenue, Derry/Londonderry, County Derry/Londonderry, BT48 6TH Publication date: 1 September 2020 Small-scale radio multiplex licence: application form (Part A): 2 Extent of proposed coverage area 2.1 Provide a summary, fully consistent with the more detailed information about transmission sites supplied separately in Part B, of the coverage area proposed to be achieved by your technical plan. This should include a description of the target area you are seeking to serve within the advertised licence area, and also any areas you are aiming to serve outside the advertised licence area for this small-scale radio multiplex service. (You may refer to your coverage prediction in the response you provide): Derry is the second largest city in Northern Ireland, characterised by its distinctively hilly topography. The River Foyle forms a deep valley as it flows through the city, which presents challenges for radio transmission whilst also explaining our choice of name for the multiplex. Derry Urban Area (DUA), includes the city and the neighbouring towns of Culmore, Newbuildings and Strathfoyle. On census day (27 March 2011) there were 81,902 people living in Derry Urban Area. This accounts for the 77.2% of the people in Ofcom’s ‘Derry/Londonderry’ Polygon area.

COUNTYDUBLIN, I was born in Glenelly, Co. Tyrone, on 26th September, 1900 and after leaving school I went to Hughes' Academy in Derry City. I lived at 17 Foyle St. in the private apartments of the group of buildings known as Conlan's Rooms My uncle administered this property. The Irish Volunteers used these buildings as Assembly Rooms. My "keeper" was Miss Conlan and Miss Reddy - both of these ladies were elderly spinsters. I think I actually became a member of the National Volunteers about the middle of 1914. I was intended for the Church, and while getting a grind from Ft. Jos. Lagan, C.C., Cranagh, preparatory to entering St. Columb's College - a brother of Dr. Lagan, the donor of the Lagan Cup to the Gaelic Athletic Association - I persuaded him to take me into a juvenile section of the local Company that he directed. This was probably the Fianna. When the Rising occurred in Dublin during Easter Week 1916, there was some activity in Derry. A number of the leading Volunteers were arrested and subsequently interned.

  • Crossing Derry Crossing Water Always Furthered Something
Simpson.qxd 17/10/2013 09:41 Page 63 63 Crossing Derry Crossing water always furthered something When quoting this line by Seamus Heaney, Martin McGuinness, Northern Ireland’s deputy first minister, registered several points. He was speaking in Derry at a party for volunteers in Fleadh 2013, the all Ireland music festival which was held Tony Simpson ‘north of the border’ for the first time and had attracted some 400,000 visitors to the city during five days in August. Heaney had died a few days after the Fleadh (pronounced ‘fla’), on 30 August. His loss is keenly felt in Derry, where he attended St Columb’s College as a boarder during his early teenage years. There his passion for poetry and flair for Latin and the classics were nurtured. From a small farm in Mossbawn in south County Derry, he had won a scholarship to St Columb’s, courtesy of the 1947 Education in Northern Ireland Act, passed by the Labour Government of the day, as Heaney himself once remarked. Mr McGuinness was acknowledging Seamus Heaney’s profound contribution to civilization and culture, while also addressing Derry’s divisions and how they are being overcome, literally, by the construction of the new Peace Bridge across the River Foyle. He was speaking a few days after visiting Warrington in the north of England, where he had given the peace lecture which we publish in this issue of The Spokesman. Two boys, twelve- years-old Tim Parry and three-years-old Johnathan Ball, had been killed in an IRA bombing in the town in 1993.

Roughan & O’Donovan N14 / N15 to A5 Link Consulting Engineers Environmental Impact Statement – Volume 1 Chapter 10 Archaeology, Architecture and Cultural Heritage Ref: 10.152 July 2011 Roughan & O’Donovan N14 / N15 to A5 Link Consulting Engineers Environmental Impact Statement – Volume 1 Chapter 10 Archaeology, Architecture and Cultural Heritage 10.1 Introduction This chapter was prepared by Archaeological Development Services Ltd having been commissioned by Roughan & O’Donovan on behalf of their client, Donegal County Council. The Archaeology, Architecture and Cultural Heritage chapter relates to the proposed N14/N15 to A5 Link Scheme which involves the design of a road linking the A5 Western Transport Corridor (WTC) in Tyrone to the existing N15 at Lifford in County Donegal (refer Figure 3.1, Volume 2). 10.2 Methodology 10.2.1 Guidelines and Policy This Chapter is compiled so as to be compliant with the guidelines set out in legislation in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Northern Ireland The relevant legislation in Northern Ireland which protects and recognizes the archaeological heritage is The Historic Monuments and Archaeological Objects (Northern Ireland) Order 1995. The Planning Service has produced a series of Planning Policy Statements which set out the policies of the Department of the Environment on particular aspects of land- use planning. Each Planning Policy Statement applies to the whole of Northern Ireland and their contents are taken into account when development plans are being prepared. The contents are also material in the case of decisions on individual planning applications and appeals. Planning Policy Statement 6: Planning, Archaeology and The Built Heritage (PPS 6) specifically sets out the planning policies of the Department of the Environment in relation to the protection and conservation of archaeological remains and other features of the built heritage and advises on the treatment of these issues in development plans.

  • Derry~ Londonderry Strategic Framework
Bogside, Fountain & Bishop Street DERRY~ LONDONDERRY STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK August 2016 DERRY~ LONDONDERRYURBAN VILLAGES INITIATIVE DERRY~ LONDONDERRY 1 INTRODUCTION 01 2 BOGSIDE, FOUNTAIN AND BISHOP ST TODAY 19 3 THE FUTURE 55 4 SUPPORTING DELIVERY 102 01INTRODUCTION Urban Villages Initiative - Bogside, Fountain and Bishop Street 1 INTRODUCTION 1 PURPOSE OF DOCUMENT This Strategic Framework is intended to provide a reference point for anyone involved in shaping investment decisions or identifying collaborative opportunities in the Bogside, Fountain and Bishop Street Urban Village area. The Framework presents findings from a creative process of analysis and reflection which involved individual members of the community, as well as representatives from local and central government. It provides an analysis of place and is a tool for informing action and investment. The Framework is intended to be used as a working document so that emerging opportunities can be identified and changing circumstances acknowledged. It begins by presenting information on what the Urban Villages Initiative is, what it is trying to achieve and how it will work. Section 2 then sets out the local context and presents key findings under three headings - strengths, symptoms and causes. Section 3 looks towards the future and sets out Strategic Actions which emerged through the process of engagement, evidence gathering and analysis. These can help to inform future investment plans as well as identifying opportunities for alignment of effort and collaboration around shared outcomes. Section 4 focuses on delivery. The Executive Office will take forward projects and programmes within its remit, and work with others to progress opportunities for shared delivery of outcomes, in keeping with the approach articulated in the draft Programme for Government Framework.
