Nashville, TN - Acclaimed musician’s collective Hard Working Americans announces the release of special limited edition 12 inch single, a topical and controversial music video and dates for a summer tour that will begin on July 19. The new dates are an extension of Hard Working American’s first-ever tour, which included a series of sold out shows before the band mates went back to their other musical day jobs. In January, Melvin Records released the self-titled debut from Hard Working Americans, featuring acclaimed singer/songwriter Todd Snider, Dave Schools (Widespread Panic), Neal Casal (Chris Robinson Brotherhood), Chad Staehly (Great American Taxi) and Duane Trucks. Hard Working Americans debuted at #1 at Americana Radio and received high praise from diverse range of press that included Rolling Stone, Huffington Post, Mother Jones, USA Today, Relix, Magnet, American Songwriter, NPR’s Fresh Air (Listen HERE) and a network television debut on Conan (View HERE). The band has been nominated for the Americana Music Association’s 2014 Duo / Group of the Year award.
On July 15, Hard Working Americans and Melvin Records will release the special limited edition 12 inch single for “Blackland Farmer” (see cover art above). Side A will feature the original album version of Frankie Miller’s 1959 hit, while Side B will feature a live concert recording of the song. The single package will contain a pack of custom Hard Working Americans rolling papers and a 25% off coupon towards a purchase at the LoDo Wellness Center in Denver, CO, a marijuana dispensary that is open to the public (Set your fare alerts now!). The final item in the package will be a download card for the new video for “Blackland Farmer”. The debut video from award-winning rock photographer, journalist Andy Tennille vividly depicts the plight of a small-town American farmer who faces mounting debts as he tries to provide for his family and save his farm. The farmer risks everything as he turns to marijuana as the cash crop to help him get back on track. This particular story may be fictional, but the dilemma facing the American farmer is very real. Tennille and Hard Working Americans took the opportunity to tell a story that they hope will open up more eyes and minds, so posting is strongly encouraged. You can view the video HERE!
