Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program in cooperation with AMIDEAST and Palestinian Academic Council invites graduates of the Ford Foundation to a Scientific Conference in March 2010. We received from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education that the Government of Japan, through UNESCO, offers 20 Scholarships for Research Studies in any country of the world in the following domains: o Environment (with particular emphasis on Water Sciences) o Intercultural Dialogue o Information and Communication Technologies o Peaceful Conflict Resolution All related forms, information and guidelines are available in our office. From the Athletics Department Congratulation to B.U basketball women’s team for winning the cup for second place at the Palestinian Universities Women Basketball Championship which was held Saturday, 5 December at Birzeit University.

3. From the Humanities Department On the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which fell on Thursday, 10 December, Bethlehem University students enrolled in the course of democracy, human rights and international humanitarian law, implemented co-curricular activities aimed at Bethlehem University students in order to raise awareness and promote the concept of human rights including civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. The activity aimed to introduce the treaties and international conventions emanating from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. 42 students from diverse disciplines were involved in the activity.

4. From the Institute for Community Partnership (ICP) The First Arab Fair Trade Forum “Positioning the Arab Region on the World’s Fair Trade Map” The First Arab Fair Trade forum was concluded on Monday, 7 December in Amman, which was organized by the Fair Trade Development Center in the Institute for Community Partnership / Bethlehem University,

and in cooperation with the Palestinian Fair Trade Network. Representatives of Fair Trade organization from , Lebanon, Egypt and have participated in the forum, as well as fromPalestinian organizations and associations. They stressed the need to form a network to represent the Arab Fair Trade at an international level.

5. From the Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism The Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism announces the closing of its training restaurant. Thursday,17 December will be the last day.

6. From the Department of Computer Information Systems Congratulations to Dr. Suhail Odeh, a CIS faculty member and his team on the publication of a paper entitled "Cursor Movement Control Development by Using ANFIS Algorithm" in the "International Arab Journal of Information Technology". The research that produced this paper was done as the final graduation project of a team of students who graduated in June 2008. Team members were Joseph Hodali, Maha Sleibi, and Ilyaa Salsa
