The IOA fired teargas and sound bombs at Palestinians. (Wafa 2 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation bulldozers closed, with huge stones, the eastern entrance of Nahhalin village, west of Bethlehem city, and uprooted a number of trees. (Al-Quds 3 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) invaded Ad Dhuheisheh refugee camp, south of Bethlehem city. As a result, clashes erupted between Palestinians and the IOA, where the latter fired rubber bullets, teargas and sound bombs at Palestinians. (Al-Quds 4 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) stormed and toured in several areas in Bethlehem governorate. (Al-Quds 4 June 2013) A group of Israeli settlers started digging Palestinian lands in Khallet Al Qoton and Khallet An Nahla areas, south of Bethlehem city, under the claim that they are looking for excavations. [email protected] | http://www.arij.org The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) and the Israeli Civil Administration demolished a Palestinian room made of tin in Al Khader village, west of Bethlehem city. The targeted room is owned by Anas Ghinam. (Al-Quds 5 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation Authorities issued four military orders to stop the construction on Palestinian lands in Khallet An Nahla area, east Wadi Rahal village, south of Bethlehem city. The targeted lands are owned by: Nadi Faraj, Ahmed Badawi and Mohammad Aiyash. (ARN 5 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) invaded and searched several houses in Beit Fajjar village, south of Bethlehem city. (Al-Quds 6 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) raided the weekly non-violent protest against the Segregation wall and settlements in Al-Masara village, south of Bethlehem city. The IOA assaulted participants and hindered them from accessing the wall area. (ARN 7 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation Authorities closed with huge rocks an agricultural road in Al Khader village, west of Bethlehem city which leads to more than 50 dunums of agricultural lands planted with grapes. Closing the road will hinder Palestinians from reaching to their agricultural lands. (Al-Quds 8 June 2013) The Israeli Civil Administration escorted by the Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) handed out military orders to a number of Palestinian families in Shab Buhor area in Wadi Fukin village, west of Bethlehem city. The orders state the evacuation of lands adjacent to the Israeli settlement of Betar Illit under the pretext of being classified by the Israeli Authorities as “State Lands”. Two of the targeted pieces are owned by: Mahmoud Mohammad Manasrah and Musrafa Sad Al- Hroub. (NBPRS 9 June 2013) The Israeli settlers started to construct a room on a Palestinian land in Al Khader village, west of Bethlehem city. The targeted land is located between Danial and Elazar settlements. Noted that the Israeli settlers used Palestinian old stones. (Wafa 10 June 2013) The Israeli settlers started to construct a Jewish Synagogue in Khallet Al Ein area in Al Khader village, west of Bethlehem city. The Synagogue will be built on Palestinian land owned by Salah family. (IMEMC 19 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) attacked and injured Maki Khalil Sukar (35 years) from Beit Jala town, while he was in Jerusalem city. (Wafa 20 June 2013) An Israeli court decided to deport a Palestinian prisoner; Iyad Abu Founon from Bethlehem city, to the Gaza strip for ten years. (Maannews & Paltoday 20 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) raided the weekly non-violent protest against the Segregation wall and settlements in Al Masara village, south of Bethlehem city. The IOA assaulted participants and hindered them from reaching to the wall zone. (PNN 21 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) invaded Tequ village, east of Bethlehem city. As a result, clashes erupted between Palestinians and the IOA, where the latter fired teargas and sound bombs at Palestinians, which led to dozens of suffocation cases. The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) invaded and searched a Palestinian house owned by Khalid Shaheen in Beit Sahour town, east of Bethlehem city. The IOA stopped and searched Palestinian vehicles and checked ID cards. (RB2000 26 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) raided Al Khader village, west of Bethlehem city. (Al-Quds 26 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation bulldozers razed 25 dunums of agricultural lands planted with olive trees in Wadi Rahal village, south of Bethlehem city. As a result, 200 olive trees were uprooted, and a number of retaining walls were demolished. The targeted lands are owned by Mahmoud Asad and Mohammad Ayish. (Wafa & Maannews 27 June 2013) The Israeli Occupation Army (IOA) set up three sudden checkpoints in Al Khader village, west of Bethlehem city. The IOA stopped and searched Palestinian vehicles and checked ID cards. The proposed legislation calls for amending Basic Law: The Knesset (hereinafter: “the Basic Law”) on two levels: A. The proposal allows a majority of 90 members of Knesset to suspend an incumbent member of Knesset on one of the three grounds listed in Section 7A of Basic Law: The Knesset; B. the proposal expands the grounds for disqualifying a candidate or list under Section 7A of the Basic Law, stipulating that it is sufficient that they express support for an armed struggle that is not necessarily identified with a terrorist organization or enemy state. But this has also created the material basis for the international workers‟ solidarity exemplified in Marx and Engels‟ slogan: “Workers of the world, unite!” The adoption of the neo-liberal model has aggravated socioeconomic inequality, both within nations and between rich and poor countries, to an unprecedented level, while increasing the numbers of unemployed people, poor workers, women, children and older people living in miserable conditions. In the first decade of the 21st century, wealth continues to be concentrated in the hands of the two hundred largest multinational corporations – that is, in the hands of a few hundred billionaires – while the majority of humanity is forced to live in poverty, lacking basic necessities such as clean water, food, housing, schools and hospitals. The US administration continues to sabotage all attempts to reach meaningful international agreement on ways to curtail global warming (the greenhouse effect), thus endangering the very existence of the human race on Earth. The Bush Administration cynically exploits the concept of democracy in an attempt to conceal a cruel policy of conquest, destruction of social rights and impingement on democratic rights within the USA. “The war on terror” is the latest phase of the US attempt to create a “new world order”.

    INTRODUCTION RECOVERING A REPRESSED PAS T On February 12, 2013, Ruth Calderon was invited to the dais of the Israeli Knesset to deliver her firs t speech as a newly-elected member of parliament.1 The speech was unlike any given in the his tory of deliberations in Israel’s legislature in that it consis ted primarily of her reading and interpreting a Talmudic s tory. The Talmudic s tory that Calderon read before the Knesset, firs t in the original Aramaic and then in Hebrew translation, was, as is typical of these s tories, very brief: Rabbi Rahumi s tudied under Rava in Mehoza. He would regularly come home to his wife on the eve of Yom Kippur. One day [on the eve of Yom Kippur] the topic [he was s tudying] drew him in. His wife anticipated him, “He is coming. He is coming.” He did not come. She began to grieve. She shed a tear from her eye. He was sitting on a roof. The roof collapsed under him, and he died. (B. Ketubot 62b)2 The s tory reflects what appears to have been a common practice among rabbinic scholars in Babylonia: to absent themselves from home for long periods of time to s tudy Torah. The author of the s tory expresses his disapproval of this cus tom by portraying empathically the emotional s tress experienced by Rabbi Rahumi’s wife when he was so engaged in Torah s tudy that he forgot to return home for the sacred holiday.     Reporting period: 29 March - 4 April 2016 Weekly Highlights For the first week in almost six months there have been no Palestinian nor Israeli fatalities recorded. 88 Palestinians, including 18 children, were injured by Israeli forces across the oPt. The majority of injuries (76 per cent) were recorded during demonstrations marking ‘Land Day’ on 30 March, including six injured next to the perimeter fence in the Gaza Strip, followed by search and arrest operations. The latter included raids in Azzun ‘Atma (Qalqiliya) and Ya’bad (Jenin) involving property damage and the confiscation of two vehicles, and a forced entry into a school in Ras Al Amud in East Jerusalem. On 30 occasions, Israeli forces opened fire in the Access Restricted Area (ARA) at land and sea in Gaza, injuring two Palestinians as far as 350 meters from the fence. Additionally, Israeli naval forces shelled a fishing boat west of Rafah city, destroying it completely. Israeli forces continued to ban the passage of Palestinian males between 15 and 25 years old through two checkpoints controlling access to the H2 area of Hebron city. This comes in addition to other severe restrictions on Palestinian access to this area in place since October 2015. During the reporting period, Israeli forces removed the restrictions imposed last week on Beit Fajjar village (Bethlehem), which prevented most residents from exiting and entering the village. This came following a Palestinian attack on Israeli soldiers near Salfit, during which the suspected perpetrators were killed. Israeli forces also opened the western entrance to Hebron city, which connects to road 35 and to the commercial checkpoint of Tarqumiya.

"After that, let each side carry the responsibility on its own." Jan. 7: Jordan, PLO sign economic accord. Jordanian banks in the West Bank to reopen. - Israel releases 101 Palestinian pri-soners. Jan. 16: Clinton and Assad meet in Geneva. Assad says Syria is prepared to normalize relations with Israel in exchange for full withdrawal from the Golan Heights. Jan. 29-30: Peres, Arafat meet in Davos, reach agreement on control of border crossings, area of autonomy around Jericho and on roads in the Gaza Strip. The final agreement is signed in Cairo on 9.2.94. - For the first time, leaders of the People’s Party (ex-communists) are elected in direct, open elections, by 120 party representatives. VIEWERS’ REACTIONS TO THE USE OF IRONY IN NEWS INTERVIEWS Galia Hirsch Abstract This research seeks to identify and analyze the reaction to irony in Israeli political news interviews, in view of the specific nature of this genre, which has been known to allow a certain level of adversarialness (Liebes et al. 2008; Blum-Kulka 1983; Weizman 2008; Clayman &Heritage 2002a and 2002b). Our intention was to examine whether the audience regards the use of irony as over-aggressive, and whether they believe interviewees regard it as such, in order to shed light on the potential consequences the use of indirect discourse patterns has for the interviewer. Based on Goffman's (1981) notion of footing, and on the concept of positioning as defined by Weizman (2008: 16), we focused on the audience's capacity to grasp the positioning and repositioning in the interaction as a possible influential factor in their reaction to the employment of irony. The research is based on two conceptual paradigms: Media studies and pragmatic studies of irony. The findings indicate that Israeli audiences tend to regard interviewers' employment of irony in political interviews as slightly hostile, and as such it is viewed as a possible threat to interviewees' face (Goffman 1967), but also as a legitimate and comprehensible tool, especially when the irony is accompanied by humor or mitigating non-verbal signs. Hence, the risk for the interviewer is not as great as we assumed.

Ik heb de afgelopen jaren enorm veel geleerd en ook genoten van de vele juridische vraagstukken die besproken werden. Na het afronden van de bachelor Rechtsgeleerdheid met een scriptie over de vrijheid van onderwijs was de master Staats- en Bestuursrecht een voor de hand liggende keuze. De master sloot goed aan op mijn (politieke) interesses. Hoewel ik zowel het staatsrecht als het bestuursrecht bestudeerde, ligt mijn hart toch echt bij het staatsrecht. Deze scriptie is daar een bewijs van. Het is mooi om juist in dit voorjaar mijn masterscriptie af te ronden. Het jaar 2017 is in het licht van het onderwerp van deze masterscriptie namelijk een bijzonder jaar. Het is dit jaar precies honderd jaar geleden dat in 1917 het stelsel van evenredige vertegenwoordiging werd ingevoerd. Het jaar 1917 is een keerpunt in de parlementaire geschiedenis van Nederland. Enerzijds is dit het begin van de hedendaagse parlementaire democratie. Anderzijds is de invoering van het stelsel van evenredige vertegenwoordiging ook een bedreiging voor het vrije en persoonlijke mandaat van Tweede Kamerleden. De partijmacht wordt groter terwijl individuele Tweede Kamerleden ook in 2017 worden geacht zonder last te stemmen.
