Because if ever there was a ‘radically new’ motorcycle, or one that was ‘beyond established principles,’ it was Suzuki’s 1985 GSX-R750 – and the GSX-R1100 that followed in ’86. As one motorcycle journalist wrote in 1985, “Sportbikes will soon be divided into two categories: before the GSX-R, and after.” Nicely put. The instant it debuted in late 1984 at Germany’s Cologne show, the GSX-R750 electrified the motorcycle world.
