The seventh annual My World Conference – inspiring CBE students to make a difference For Immediate Release Media Availability and Photo Op Feb. 24, 2015 CALGARY — Over 1,200 middle and junior high school student leaders and their Media Relations teachers will be inspired to action at the seventh annual My World Conference. This unique opportunity will allow students from over 45 CBE schools to learn from local, 403-819-2317 national and international organizers and activists. Students will be engaged and inspired to “think globally” and develop their sense of community by getting [email protected] involved in projects with a wide range of impact; from their own school or region all the way up to the larger global community. Special keynote speakers at this year’s event include Jessi Cruickshank and Robb Nash. Jessi became a household name as the face of MTV Canada and host of the MTV’s international smash hit The Hills After Show. Jessi captivates audiences every time she speaks about her volunteer and philanthropic work with Free the Children’s Me to We Campaign. She has also used her fame to document child labour, hunger and poverty issues. Following a life-threatening accident as a teenager, Robb Nash, lead singer and voice of the Robb Nash Project, experienced anger, self-doubt and depression. After working through these issues and recovering from significant physical injuries, the highly acclaimed musician found his passion: connecting to young people with rock music and meaningful lyrics. The Robb Nash Project engages young people through the power of music and words, encouraging them to make positive life choices and lead lives of significance and purpose. We also welcome inspirational presentations from other guest speakers, Jason Goodstriker, Connie Jakabs, ‘Alienation’, Pam Rocker, Tenille, Mackenzie Murphy, Kerry Girling and Prusik Youth Services. Students will be available for interviews, along with teachers and organizers over the lunch hour.
