- Please read through all instructions before beginning. - RST = Right Sides Together RS= Right Side - RSO = Right Side Out SA= Allowance Easy Shopper Tote - WST = Wrong Sides Together WS= Wrong Side by Natalie Santini @sewhungryhippie - is 1/2” unless otherwise stated SUPPLIES: 1/2 YD exterior fabric & 1/2 YD fabric (1) Sewable leather strap OR make fabric straps by piecing leftover exterior fabric.

Usual tools: , All-Purpose poly (cotton thread tends to break), cutting tools, iron, marking tool + any additional sewing you fi nd helpful.

Demonstration bag is made without , as the canvas material adds body and structure. You may choose to use interfacing on your bag. Experiment and learn what you prefer.

This bag was easily sewn up on the Skyline S7. Thank you Janome!

#easyshoptote All measurements given width x height. Seam allowance is 1/2” throughout. Approximate fi nished size:

EXTERIOR FABRIC LINING FABRIC 17.5” x 14.5” x 5.5”

Cut (2) MAIN BODY (2) MAIN BODY 18” x 18” 18” x 18”

Bag is easily made in a variety of materials including vinyl, cork, quilting cotton, *If making fabric waxed canvas, duck cloth, and more. You handles, cut (2) may interface your bag if you choose! 4” x 20”

1. Cut (2) MAIN BODY pieces from exterior fabric AND lining fabric. Place exterior RST and sew sides and bottom. Repeat for lining pieces.

2. Measure from outer edge of fabric (not the seam line) and make 3” squares at bottom right and left sides. Mark clearly, then cut exactly on these lines. If your previous seams are pulling apart, reinforce with a few stitches now. Repeat for lining.

This shows foam interfacing from another bag.

“Nest” means one seam lies one sew direction and the other seam lies the opposite direction. They sort-of “lock” into place making it easier to sew and will result in a sharper looking finish.

4. Turn exterior bag so the RIGHT SIDE is facing outward. The lining bag is still WRONG SIDE facing outward. Tuck the exterior bag inside the lining bag, now they are RST. Match side seams and top edges and use or clips to hold in place.

5. Sew around top edge entirely, starting at one side seam and sewing all the way around. I use my sewing foot edge as a guide to keep straight.

6. Using a seam ripper, unpick a few stitches in the BOTTOM of the lining bag. Make this opening large enough to pull the exterior bag out. The fabric is already “trained”, so it’s easy to sew this opening closed again. Once you are satisfied the bags are looking good, close this opening. Tuck the lining down into the exterior bag. TAKE YOUR TIME pressing all the edges, especially the top. Sometimes I have to use a pin to pull the edges out fully.

7. Top stitch the top edge with a longer stitch length. I use a 4mm length here.

8. Add handles or straps. I love the sewable leather straps so much, so I’m attaching those in the video. Cut two lengths 20” 2” long and measure 4” in from side edge and 2” from the top edge; sew to secure. 4” *If making fabric straps, fold long edges in to meet in the center. Fold again and press well. Stitch open edge closed with a longer stitch length, and repeat for opposite long edge. This makes a really sturdy handle due to the four layers.
