Summary of Consultation Waste Core Strategy Nottinghamshire and Nottingham Waste Core Strategy Summary of Consultation This summary has been prepared to highlight the range of formal and informal consultation measures we have carried out to date in accordance with both the County and City Council’s Statements of Community Involvement. A full consultation statement will be published alongside the final submission documents. ‘Issues and Options’ 23 October 2006 – 8 December 2006 Direct mailings and number of responses – Letters sent to all those on consultation database (including government bodies, adjacent authorities, industry, interest/environmental groups and the public) – Received 140 responses from individuals and organisations – Leaflets and posters sent to parish councils for display Local press – Press release and articles in local newspapers including Nottingham Evening Post and Mansfield Chad.     The Concept of Identity in the East Midlands of England NATALIE BRABER Investigating feelings of identity in East Midlands adolescents Introduction When considering dialectal variation in the UK, linguists have frequently considered the North/South divide and the linguistic markers separating the two regions (see for example Trudgill, 1999; Wells, 1986). But it has been noted that this is not a straightforward division (e.g. Beal, 2008; Goodey, Gold, Duffett & Spencer, 1971; Montgomery, 2007; Wales, 2002). There are clear stereotypes for the North and South – but how do areas like the East Midlands fit into the picture? The boundaries between North and South are defined in different ways. Beal’s linguistic North does not include the East Midlands (Beal, 2008: 124- 5), neither does Wales’ (2002: 48). Trudgill states that in traditional dialectology the East Midlands area falls under ‘Central’ dialects, which come under the ‘Southern’ branch, but in modern dialectology it falls in the ‘North’. Hughes, Trudgill and Watt (2005: 70) contains a map which has the East Midlands in the North. Linguistically, the question has been raised whether there is a clear North/South boundary (see for example Upton (2012) where it is proposed that it is a transition zone). This paper revisits this question from the point of view of young people living in the East Midlands, to examine their sense of identity and whether this cultural divide is salient to them. The East Midlands is a problematic area in its definition geographically, and people may have difficulty in relating this to their own sense of identity.

Please note the highlight results listed and accompanying reports provided only capture a sample of the total overall activity undertaken, so is not an exhaustive list of campaigns or activity undertaken. 1. Recruit adopters and fosterers See the evaluation report on National Adoption Week. Other campaigns/activity achieved: • Effective tracking and monitoring of enquiries in place for the first time – individuals are tracked through from an enquiry generated directly from promotional activity to if a conversion is achieved. Better information than ever before is available on how people heard about the Council, which directly informs promotional activity methods. Adoption: • Best ever conversion rate from enquiries to visits – 50% conversion rate achieved, based on 104 adoption enquiries to end November 2012. Whilst the number of enquiries is comparable to 2011, the quality of enquiries has increased due to improved targeting of promotion. The total number of approval is currently unknown. • 86% increase in enquiries during September and October 2012 (compared to same period on 2011) – directly attributable to the ‘back to school’ campaign. • 99% month on month increase web page visits – as a direct result of increased promotion. Fostering: • Improved quality of enquiries – based on 645 enquiries to end December 2012. There were 198 requests for further information following initial enquiry; 4 applications have gone on to be approved; and 9 applications are still in assessment/info gathering stage.

    Section 355 Review of Output Trax FM (Bassetlaw and Doncaster) [] Redacted for publication Publication Date: 16 April 2020 Introduction When a local commercial radio licence undergoes a change of control (this includes licence transfer), Ofcom is required, under section 355 of the Communications Act 2003 (‘the Act’), to undertake a review of the effects or likely effects of the change of control in relation to: • the quality and range of programmes included in the service; • the character of the service, and; • the extent to which Ofcom’s duty under section 314 of the Act is performed in relation to the service. Ofcom’s duty under section 314 of the Act relates to securing the inclusion of an appropriate amount of local material, and a suitable proportion of locally-made programmes in the service. Under section 356 of the Act, where it appears to Ofcom from its review that the change of control would be prejudicial to any of the three matters listed above, then it must vary the licence, by including such conditions as it considers appropriate, with a view to ensuring that the relevant change of control is not so prejudicial. In doing so, any new or varied conditions must be such that the licence holder would have satisfied them throughout the three months immediately before the change of control. Ofcom is required to publish a report of its review, setting out its conclusions and any steps it proposes to take under section 356. Where Ofcom proposes to vary the licence, it is required to give the licence holder a reasonable opportunity to make representations about the variation.
