Summary of Consultation

This summary has been prepared to highlight the range of formal and informal consultation measures we have carried out to date in accordance with both the County and City Council’s Statements of Community Involvement. A full consultation statement will be published alongside the final submission documents.

‘Issues and Options’ 23 October 2006 – 8 December 2006

Direct mailings and number of responses – Letters sent to all those on consultation database (including government bodies, adjacent authorities, industry, interest/environmental groups and the public) – Received 140 responses from individuals and organisations – Leaflets and posters sent to parish councils for display

Local press – Press release and articles in local newspapers including Nottingham Evening Post and Chad.

Council publications and events – Articles published in County, City, District/Borough and Parish Council internal and external publications – Member/Officer working group established comprising both County and City officers and members

Internet – Featured on County and City Council websites

Stakeholder engagement – Informal waste stakeholder group established with representatives from local authority planning, waste management, environmental health and sustainability teams; environmental groups; the waste industry; the Health Protection Agency; Environment Agency and Natural England, Development Agency – Information sent to the Local Strategic Partnerships for each District

Direct mailings and number of responses – Over 750 letters/emails sent to those on consultation database (including government bodies, adjacent authorities, industry, interest/environmental groups and the public) – Leaflets and posters sent to parish councils – Received 97 responses to the main document and 173 to the questionnaire

Local press – press release and articles in local papers, including Eastwood and Kimberley Advertiser, Nottingham Evening Post, Mansfield Chad, Times and the Newark Advertiser – TV coverage on BBC East on 1 and 3 September 2010 (including bulletin on launch of consultation and an interview with Head of Planning at County Council) – Radio coverage on BBC Radio Nottingham consisting of a live interview with Head of Planning Services at County Council and further recorded interviews on Trax FM, Mansfield 103.2 and Lincs FM

Council publications and events – Articles published in County, City, District/Borough and Parish Council internal and external publications – Meetings of officer/member working group – Presentation at Waste Summit, 22 September 2010

Public events – Displays covering the whole County and City area including 9 public libraries, Mansfield town centres, Worskop market and the Moorgreen Country Show at special events. Staff also visited each display at an advertised time to engage with the public and answer questions.

Internet and social media – Main news story and advertising spots on County and City Council websites at beginning and end of consultation period, and at periodic intervals during consultation. – Advertised on Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire website – Facebook page set up and updated with progress and information on public events – Tweet from Nottinghamshire County Council about start of consultation
