The activities are designed to be open-ended and multi-ability. They may need differentiation for your specific cohort. The performances and workshops included in the Education & Families program are designed to offer students engaging arts experiences with strong links to the Victorian Curriculum, and to VEYLDF, and VCE subjects where appropriate. Each Education & Families performance / workshop varies in its content and as a result the scope for integration across the curriculum varies. Squid Stamp is Melbourne's freshest theatre-in-education company who deliver energetic and professional physical comedy for kids and adults alike. We educate through wildly entertaining performances, memorable characters and splendidly silly sketches. Squid Stamp was founded by Isabelle Clara Mason and Samantha Wojcik who met during their three years of acting training at the Arts Academy, University of Ballarat. Since then, Squid Stamp premiered their newest work, The Technology Show at the 2013 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and continued with a successful return season at La Mama Theatre, receiving the Melbourne Fringe Festival Best Kids Show Award. They now welcome two talented and emerging actors to the Squid Stamp team and are excited to deliver outstanding, educational theatrical comedy to schools all around Victoria. WHY TECHNOLOGY?     February 10, 2015 News release > City Centre in spotlight for Anywhere Festival A THEATRICAL performance at Hair Asylum and a comedy walking tour by a man in a penguin suit are just some of the weird and wonderful events taking place in the Mackay City Centre, as part of the Anywhere Festival (March 13-22). Proudly hosted by the Mackay and Isaac Regional Councils, Mayor Deirdre Comerford and Isaac Regional Council Acting Mayor Dale Appleton were on hand to officially launch the festival today at Oaks Rivermarquee. Mayor Deirdre Comerford said she was proud that Mackay and Isaac were the first regional areas in Australia to host The Anywhere Festival. “Our arts and business communities have joined forces with the organisers to stage a festival program that is unique, affordable and a lot of fun,” Cr Comerford said. “It’s a great opportunity for our City Centre businesses to showcase their versatility and for locals and visitors alike to enjoy some exciting performances.” Mackay’s City Centre and Isaac townships including Middlemount, Moranbah, Nebo and Dysart will host a variety of exciting musical and comical performances as part of the ten day festival. Festival, Events and the Arts portfolio councillor Chris Bonanno said it was great to see fourteen different local businesses in and around the City Centre host performances. “Venues include the Mackay Grand Suites and The Dispensary – the festival will be a great opportunity for audiences to enjoy entertainment in different settings throughout our City Centre.” Anywhere Festival Artistic Director Paul OSurch said, “It’s time to explore your nooks and crannies.” “The Anywhere Festival is about fun shows in interesting spaces at affordable prices so that anyone can go to a few shows and explore spaces in a different way, that’s really the key and why I love this festival,” Paul said.

Creative industries Faculty-QUT Professional Boundaries: (Sharp Objects and other Injections of Memoir and Comedy) 2 ABSTRACT The creative work for this MA thesis, The Performing Nurse and the research that informs it, seek to join the two key vocations of the researcher – the artist and the nurse – to create the Nurse Artist and claim a voice for nurses. The theatrical performance and the exegetical material represent my original attempts to address the main research question: How can the Nurse Artist emerge to express the self, to gain a voice in a system that often demands compliance and silence? Practice-led research, utilising an auto-ethnographic and an auto- performative approach to critique historical and contemporary nurse archetypes through performance, informs the overall project. The Performing Nurse a production, based around the comic monologues of five characters and developed through five creative iterations, is the primary site for addressing the research question and its component parts. The practice-led approach also involved the use of focus groups and surveys, providing comprehensive feedback from the nursing profession across the creative development phases. The project draws on the pioneering work of Peggy Shaw and Jo Brand whose art is located within the burgeoning field of what is known as Performing Medicine.

Rubble was being cleared from the streets when her father, a professional comedian, and mother, a pianist, decided that they wanted to do their bit to help bring laughter back to the lives of not only the soldiers in rehabilitation, but to the British people in general. Dorothy’s father put a troupe together and frequented many of the rehabilitation centres as well as some of the clubs of the day. So successful were they at making people laugh, they remained in high demand for many years – and daughter Dorothy was a part of this very successful troupe. Dorothy continued in theatre, and while performing on stage at the age of 19, she met her future husband Ted who was working on the show’s technical & lighting team. As both of their parent’s had passed away, 2 lonely people drawn together by a common love of theatre formed a strong and loving friendship that shortly afterwards led to their marriage. After some discussion Ted & Dorothy decided to emigrate to the beautiful country of Australia, arriving as Ten Pound Poms! After settling in Australia, they started their family, eventually having 2 girls and a boy – the girls went on the perform in theatre, but the son, after fainting due to stage fright in a school play, never trod the boards again! Ted & Dorothy joined GCLT in 1975, and Dorothy has since directed 23 shows, with Ted always by her side building the sets.
