THE HELLENIC PRESIDENTIAL GUARD RETURNS EXCLUSIVELY TO ! 23 APRIL 2019 – 1 MAY 2019

With the special permission of the President of Greece, the Hellenic Presidential Guard returns to Adelaide in April 2019 for seven days of activities hosted by the Foundation for Hellenic Studies with the proud support of the community.

You’re invited to witness the Guard at the following official and public events. Everyone is welcome except where the event is marked as ‘private’.

Tue, 23rd April 4.00pm Hellenic Presidential Guard arrives at Adelaide International Airport

Wed, 24th April 9.30am – 10.30am Private visit to the Consulate Office of the Hellenic Republic, Grenfell Street, Adelaide.

11.00am – Visit to St Basil’s Homes (SA) – Winchester Street, St 12.30pm Peters. For further details contact Angela Gondzioulis at [email protected].

Thur, 25th April 5.45am – 6.45am Dawn Service at the City of West Torrens Memorial Grounds, Brooker Terrace, Richmond. The Guard will take part in the Dawn Service. All are welcome to attend.

9.30am -11.30am ANZAC Day Parade. The Guard will march as part of the traditional ANZAC day Parade through the streets of Adelaide. All are welcome to attend.

12.00pm – Cross of Sacrifice Service in Pennington Gardens. The 12.30pm Guard will take part in the service held immediately after the conclusion of the ANZAC Day March. All are welcome to attend.

Fri, 26th April 3.00pm – 4.00pm ‘Apokathylosis’. The Guard will attend Church service at

St George Church 60 Rose Street, Thebarton. All are welcome to attend. For further details contact Anna Stroubis at [email protected]

7.30pm – 10.30pm Good Friday. The Guard will attend Church service at St George Church 60 Rose Street, Thebarton. The Guard will escort the ‘Epitafio’ around the surrounding streets of Thebarton as part of the annual Good Friday procession. All are welcome to attend. Sat, 27th April 11.00pm –midnight Orthodox Easter Saturday – Members of the Guard will attend three different Churches to take part in midnight mass services. All are welcome to attend. The Churches at which you will see the Guard are:

Mon, 29th April 9.30am – midday St George’s Day. The Guard will attend Church service at

St George Church, 60 Rose St, and Thebarton to commemorate the Saint’s day. All are welcome to attend. For further details contact Anna Stroubis at [email protected]

2.30pm – 3.30pm Adelaide High School Assembly – Assembly in honour of visit to SA of the Hellenic Presidential Guard. Group leader to make presentation to assembly regarding history of ‘Evzones’. For further details contact Dimitra Rozaklis at [email protected]

5.00pm – 7.00pm Open Public Reception at the Thebarton Theatre, Cnr of South and Henley Beach Roads, Thebarton hosted by the State Leader of the , the Hon MP and with the generous support of the Thebarton Theatre. The event is open to all members of the public to attend to witness the Guard in ceremonial uniform. For further details contact the office

Tues, 30th April 9.30am – midday Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene Day. The Guard will

attend Church service at Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene Church, 232 Gorge Road, Athelstone to commemorate the Saints day. All are welcome to attend. For further details contact Father Efthimios at [email protected]
