George Strait Murder on Music Murder On Music Row George Strait Nobody saw him running from sixteenth avenue. They never found the fingerprint or the weapon that was used. But someone killed country music, cut out its heart and soul. They got away with murder down on music row. The almighty dollar and the lust for worldwide fame Slowly killed tradition and for that someone should hang (oh, y ou tell them Alan). They all say not guilty, but the evidence will show That murder was committed down on music row. For the steel guitars no longer cry and fiddles barely play, But drums and rock 'n roll guitars are mixed up in your face. Old Hank wouldn't have a chance on today's radio Since they committed murder down on music row. They thought no one would miss it, once it was dead and gone They said no one would buy them old drinking and cheating songs (I'll still buy 'em) Well there ain't no justice in it and the hard facts are cold Murder's been committed down on music row. Oh, the steel guitars no longer cry and you can't hear fiddles play With drums and rock 'n roll guitars mixed right up in your face Why, the Hag, he wouldn't have a chance on today's radio Since they committed murder down on music row Why, they even tell the Possum to pack up and go back home There's been an awful murder down on music row. Minna Raapio Murder on Music Row - Kuka murhasi kantrin? 01' Hank wouldn 't have a chance On today's radio Since they committed murder Down on Music Row Vuonna 2001 Alan Jackson ja George Strait voittivat Country & Westem -musiikin (C&W, kantri) murroksesta kertovalla kappaleeIlaan Murder on Music Row (Shell & Cordle 1999) kantrimusiikin keskusjärjestön CMA:n myöntämän Song of the Year -palkinnon. Ammattisanoittajien tekstittämässä, uutta ja vanhaa yhdistelevää uustra ditionaalista suuntausta edustavassaja suuren suosion saavuttaneessa laulussa mureh ditaan ironisesti kantrin nykytilaa: genre on kuollut ja tilalla on valepukuinen pop ja rock. Sanoissa syytetään Nashvillessä sijaitseviajättimäisiä levy-yhtiöitä (Music Row) ja mainoksista tulonsa saavaa radiota murhasta. Jopa sellaisten legendaaristen esiin tyjien kuten George Jones on vaikea löytää julkaisukanavia: Why they even tell the Possum To pack up and go back home There 's been an awful murder Down on music row Nykykantrin megatähtien esittämään kappaleeseen kulminoituu tutkimuskohteenani olevassa yhdysvaltalaisessa C&W:ssäjo kauanjatkunut, 1990-luvulla Yhdysvaltojen eteläosissa asuessani huippunsa saavuttanut keskustelu musiikin aitoudesta, tuotteis tamisesta ja siitä, miksi perinteinen kantri ei kelpaa medialIe, vaikka se kelpaisi ylei sölle. Tämän tiedotusvälineidenja Intemetin lisäksi myös itse musiikissaja sanoituk sissa (mm. Willie Nelson, outlaw-liike) käydyn ainutlaatuisen keskustelun valossa on hyvä pohtia genren merkitystä populaarimusiikissa. Saman genre-nimikkeen

En 1991, il a trois hits en N°1 : « I’d Love You All Over Again », « Don’t Rock The Jukebox » et « Someday ». En 1992 il sortira sa vidéo « Midnight in Montgomery » avec laquelle il gagna un CMA Award Cette même année, il sera N°1 avec deux titres : « Love’s Got a Hold on You » et « She’s Got The Rythm (and I Got The Blues) » En 1993, il sera pendant quatre semaines au top avec « Chattahoochee » qui rapporta des CMA Awards, comme étant le meilleur single de l’année 1993 et la meilleure chanson de l’année 1994.

  • “The Stories Behind the Songs”
“The Stories Behind The Songs” John Henderson The Stories Behind The Songs A compilation of “inside stories” behind classic country hits and the artists associated with them John Debbie & John By John Henderson (Arrangement by Debbie Henderson) A fascinating and entertaining look at the life and recording efforts of some of country music’s most talented singers and songwriters 1 Author’s Note My background in country music started before I even reached grade school. I was four years old when my uncle, Jack Henderson, the program director of 50,000 watt KCUL-AM in Fort Worth/Dallas, came to visit my family in 1959. He brought me around one hundred and fifty 45 RPM records from his station (duplicate copies that they no longer needed) and a small record player that played only 45s (not albums). I played those records day and night, completely wore them out. From that point, I wanted to be a disc jockey. But instead of going for the usual “comedic” approach most DJs took, I tried to be more informative by dropping in tidbits of a song’s background, something that always fascinated me. Originally with my “Classic Country Music Stories” site on Facebook (which is still going strong), and now with this book, I can tell the whole story, something that time restraints on radio wouldn’t allow. I began deejaying as a career at the age of sixteen in 1971, most notably at Nashville’s WENO-AM and WKDA- AM, Lakeland, Florida’s WPCV-FM (past winner of the “Radio Station of the Year” award from the Country Music Association), and Springfield, Missouri’s KTTS AM & FM and KWTO-AM, but with syndication and automation which overwhelmed radio some twenty-five years ago, my final DJ position ended in 1992.
