And this time, they are calling in an old friend for some help – paranormal investigator Shari DeBenedetti. On all investigations, collecting evidence is just the beginning. With the help of their local contacts, they’re going to embed themselves in the community, conducting multi-day investigations in an effort to track down the true source of these hauntings and restore peace to the living. Under the United Paranormal Research Organization (UPRO) banner, local paranormal groups will join the team as they employ new devices and techniques for confronting and questioning spirits. They’ll do whatever it takes to entice the ghost into telling its story and stop at nothing to get to the bottom of the paranormal phenomena. [Hour-long episodes] “Spectre of the Surgeon” – Premieres Wednesday, May 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT Jason Hawes, Steve Gonsalves, Dave Tango and Shari DeBenedetti travel to Louisburg, North Carolina, to investigate paranormal activity at an expectant couple's home. Mysterious shadows and terrifying apparitions have the parents-to-be fearing for their unborn baby's safety. DESTINATION FEAR Buckle up for another fright-fueled season of “Destination Fear” – a haunted road trip turned terrifying sleepover. Brother and sister duo, Dakota Laden and Chelsea Laden, and best friend Tanner Wiseman, along with camera operator Alex Schroeder, confront their fears once again, as they pile into their RV and hit the road on a nail-biting cross-country journey to pursue paranormal evidence, spending the night inside America’s most haunted abandoned buildings. Lured by the unknown and with a greater understanding of fear, the crew explores a whole new set of abandoned locations with grim histories – only this time the destinations remain a surprise, not just to Chelsea and Tanner, but to Dakota as well, as they each take turns picking a haunted hot spot, challenging each other in unique ways. [Hour-long episodes] “Cambria County Jail” – Premieres Wednesday, May 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT Convinced total isolation and disorientation is the only way to push fear to its absolute limits, Dakota Laden leads the team to Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, to investigate a dungeon deep in the bowels of the old Cambria County Jail. “Sheboygan County Asylum” – Premieres Wednesday, June 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT Dakota Laden brings the road trip to its most chilling overnight yet inside a shuttered Wisconsin asylum. They will be the first team ever to sleep inside its abandoned halls, where little is known about why several nurses took their own lives. GHOST ADVENTURES: SCREAMING ROOM Paranormal investigators Zak Bagans, Aaron Goodwin, Jay Wasley and Billy Tolley are opening up to viewers as they’ve never done before in Travel Channel’s new series, “Ghost Adventures: Screaming Room.” The guys are kicking back in their screening room to watch their favorite episodes of the hit series and get candid with fans – and each other – about their craziest experiences over the past decade. Away from the haunted locations we usually see them in, with no equipment or investigations, the crew will relive some of the most terrifying, shocking and even comedic moments from their career, as they re-watch their most memorable investigations with never-before-heard stories from the moments that created a legacy. Get ready for laughs, screams and surprises alongside the crew in the ultimate tell-all event. [Hour-long episodes] “Mining Town of Rituals” – Premieres Thursday, May 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT Zak Bagans and the guys recount their visit to Eureka, Utah, where they encountered a bizarre ritual that opened the door to the scariest evidence they have ever recorded. “Tinseltown Terror” – Premieres Thursday, June 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT Hollywood comes to the Screaming Room as Zak Bagans and the guys return to the Boulevard of Broken Dreams in search of celebrity spirits. Mr. Bagans – we're ready for your close-up. PORTALS TO HELL Descend into all-new eerie encounters when Travel Channel’s hit series, “Portals to Hell,” returns with a brand-new season. Avid paranormal investigators Jack Osbourne and Katrina Weidman resume their chilling journey to historically haunted locations in the United States, confronting sinister stories of the supernatural as they seek concrete evidence that a spirit world exists. In each episode, Osbourne and Weidman dive headfirst into a site, examining unusual incidents while utilizing specialized technology and a network of experts to help document and uncover the truth. [Hour-long episodes] “The Ohio State Reformatory” – Premieres Thursday, May 28 at 10 p.m. ET/PT Jack Osbourne and Katrina Weidman investigate the malevolent spirits haunting the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio, a location known for its role in The Shawshank Redemption. They dive deep into the abandoned prison's sordid past and gain exclusive access to paranormal hot spots. “Cary House Hotel” – Premieres Thursday, June 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT Jack Osbourne and Katrina Weidman travel to Placerville, California, to investigate a historic hotel that has been losing staff due to paranormal activity. They discover the property has ties to a nefarious secret society, which may be behind the haunting. PARANORMAL 911 (U.S. Premiere) A shocking number of 911 emergencies end in paranormal encounters. “Paranormal 911” explores these events through eyewitness accounts of the first responders who lived through them – real-life stories of police, firefighters and paramedics who arrive on scene, only to find themselves in the middle of a paranormal event. As first responders, it’s their job to put themselves in the line of danger – sometimes with terrifying and unexplainable results. Noises Off After reading a volume of ghost stories with Percy Shelley and Lord Byron Oct 27 – Dec 16, 2018 and attempting to pen ghastly tales of their own, Mary awoke one night McGuire Proscenium Stage from a chilling vision of a scientist bringing a “hideous phantasm of a man” to life. That striking image was the impetus for her novel, which was A Christmas Carol published in 1818 and kept alive through stage and film adaptations for Nov 13 – Dec 29, 2018 the past 200 years. Wurtele Thrust Stage But her ghost-story-turned-cultural-phenomenon isn’t the only notable The Great Leap anniversary. We’re also heralding the 30th anniversary of Barbara Field’s Jan 12 – Feb 10, 2019 McGuire Proscenium Stage haunting Frankenstein – Playing with Fire script. This brilliant adaptation was commissioned by the Guthrie under the artistic direction of the late As You Like It Garland Wright and opened in July 1988 following a five-month national Feb 9 – March 17, 2019 tour. Barbara’s work and artistry are woven into the fabric of the Guthrie’s Wurtele Thrust Stage history, and I’m thrilled to once again examine the questions Mary Shelley raised two centuries ago.     Directors' statement And to think, this started with 100 people at the late, lamented Paper Heart Gallery, after Darren Ramage from Brain Damage Films said we should have a Phoenix Fear Film Festival. Somehow, eight years later, we are not only still going, but it has grown into a mighty behemoth of darkness, this year, taking place over two days for the first time. It's a jump in many ways – not least since the main location is also open to the air for the first time, so we're keeping our fingers crossed for no repeat of the September storms [if the program you're reading is dripping wet, you'll know our sacrificial offerings to Cthulhu were ignored! You just can't get the virgins these days...] But we are enormously excited by the opportunities this has opened up, with a lot more space for exhibitors, extra guests, and additional time to screen an even broader range of movies than previous years. We started FearCon because there wasn't anything which gave us everything we wanted to see in such an event, and that's still our guiding principal. While it has certainly grown beyond our wildest expectations, we hope it has also retained the friendly and personal feel which has always been part of our goal. Please, enjoy all the event has to offer. If you have any questions, problems or issues, seek out a volunteer wearing a 'MINION' shirt and they will be happy to help. These innovations have consistently changed the way stories are told. Stylistic shifts in key elements ranging from shot format to the way shows are constructed can be seen especially clearly in horror which does not have the same narrative constraints as many other genres, and therefore more room to experiment. By tracking changes in the narrative formats of serialized and anthology horror shows, I plan to define a new era of television brought about by the prevalence of streaming, and the rise of binge culture. The First Genre Horror components have been ubiquitous within the world of moving pictures since the medium’s conception in the late 1800s. Film scholars and casual enthusiasts alike recall the story of Lumiere’s Arrival of a Train at the Station.
