Bylsma joined the Sabres after spending six seasons as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he led the team to a 252-117-32 overall regular-season record and became the winningest head coach in Penguins history. He began the 2015-16 season with the best points percentage (.668) of any head coach in NHL history with at least three full seasons coached.
The Grand Haven, Michigan native began his coaching career in 2004-05 as an assistant coach for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (AHL). Cooper, 48, begins his fourth season behind the Lightning bench and has amassed a 100-59-20 record entering the 2015-16 season. Cooper's .615 win percentage is the highest in franchise history. He earned career NHL victory No. 100 on April 11, 2015, making him the fifth-fastest coach among those who debuted in the league since 2000 to reach that mark. He has led the Lightning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of his two full seasons as head coach, including a trip to the Stanley Cup Final in 2015.
