Situated at the head of Busta Voe, in a peaceful and interesting location. Delting Boating Club provides a range of water based activities for all the family throughout the summer months and is an ideal base for your caravan while you explore the North Mainland and Northern Isles of Shetland. Within a short distance from Mavis Grind - where the North Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean - Delting Boating Club is the perfect starting point from which to explore, and experience, Shetland's costal walks. It is owned by the Members of the Delting Boating Club Marina's Users Association and is managed by an elected Committee. The Marina was built using funds raised by the Association Members and generous grant aid from the Shetland Islands Council and Delting Community Council. The Marina has close ties to the adjacent Boating Club with which it shares some facilities. The Marina has 54 fully serviced berths with provision for visitors. Home About Information What's On Testimonials Contact Visitors should initially berth on the outside of the North pontoon from where a berth will be allocated. The entrance situated at the North East end of the breakwater can be difficult to see when approaching from the South; it is marked with Port and Starboard hand markers. Visitors should be aware of the shallows off the shore to the East of the Starboard hand mark. The adjoining Boating Club is one of the most active sailing clubs in Shetland and holds races on Saturday nights during the season. The Club is open at 7pm every evening during the summer months and visitors are most welcome to use the bar facilities. Winter storage ashore can be arranged. Depth: 2m minimum Charges: Visiting Yachts - £15/day Facilities: Water, electricity, diesel, lift out, shore storage, showers, toilet, laundry and boating club. Yacht skippers are often on the lookout for new crewmembers. If you are interested, please contact the Club Secretary Junior Sailing Instruction: Shetland Sailing Centre, which is based at the Delting Boating Club, offers Royal Yachting Association courses leading to awards of the Youth Sailing Scheme levels 1 to 4. These courses usually run on Monday evenings, starting mid May and continuing until the end of August. They are usually restricted to pupils from P5 and up and, for insurance purposes, their parents have to be members of the club. A family membership costs £42 per annum + a £3 joining fee.The club has also run more intensive one week courses during the school summer holidays but this depends on the availability of instructors.     ANNUAL SHETLAND PONY SALE – LERWICK 2011 Shetland’s annual show and sale of Shetland Ponies was held on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th October 2011 at the Shetland Rural Centre, Lerwick. Entries for the sale were down on previous years with 133 ponies entered in this year’s catalogue. In particular there were fewer colt foals and fillies entered than usual meaning that the majority of ponies offered for sale were filly foals. Top price at the sale went to Mrs L J Burgess for her standard piebald filly foal, Robin’s Brae Pippa by HRE Fetlar, which realised 600 gns to A A Robertson, Walls, Shetland. HRE Fetlar achieved a gold award in the Pony Breeders of Shetland Association Shetland Pony Evaluation Scheme. The champion filly foal from the previous day’s show, Mrs M Inkster’s standard black filly, Laurenlea Louise by Birchwood Pippin, sold at 475 gns to Miss P J J Gear, Foula. Champion colt foal Niko of Kirkatown by Loanin Cleon, from Mr D A Laurenson, Haroldswick sold for 10 gns to Claire Smith, Punds, Sandwick. Regrettably, demand and prices in general were poor and some ponies passed through the ring unsold. Local sales accounted for a good proportion of trade as did the support of the regular buyers that make the annual trip from mainland UK to attend the sale each year. The loose chippings signs have been taken down but the road has not been swept. They are still waiting for passing place signs. 7.2 School Transport Issue – Mossbank service not fitting in with the school times – The Chairman said there is no further update on this at the moment. 7.3 Digital Highlands and Islands – Broadband Rollout – The Chairman said that the SIC Development Committee have approved the project seeking specialist advice for a long term solution by March next year. The SIC will receive the report by the end of March which will help us know who is in nought spots and people will be able to see what the options are.
