  • Position Paper – Public Utilities Revised WWTW Capacity Figures
MID ULSTER Addendum - Position Paper – Public Utilities Revised WWTW Capacity Figures January 2019 1.0 Introduction 1.1 The purpose of this paper is to provide an update on some of the information used in the Position Paper on Public Utilities, which was compiled in May 2015 and in the Preferred Options Paper (POP) that was published in November 2016. 1.2 The original position paper was intended to inform the newly established council on the provision and spare capacity of our public utilities in order to assist judgements on the allocation of housing growth and other development in the new Local Development Plan (LDP). This paper provides information specifically in relation to WWTW capacity and networks serving our district following receipt of updated information and figures from NI Water. 2.0 WWTW Capacity Figures 2.1 NI Water is responsible for the provision of sewerage throughout Mid Ulster. Mid Ulster District will need approximately 10,950 new houses by 20301 therefore, it is important that we understand the impact that these new homes may have on the capacity of the sewage network throughout Mid Ulster. 2.2 While preparing the original position paper, only information for the capacity of WWTW were included for the Magherafelt area. The information contained within the Cookstown and Dungannon plans relating to the capacity of WwTW was collected from the relevant authority some time prior to the preparation of the paper and due to the passage of time could not be included in the paper. NI Water have since provided new information about the capacity of WWTW in Mid Ulster.
