Performance NORTHERN ZONE PERFORMANCE COACH WORKSHOP # 2 The second Northern Zone Performance Coach workshop took place on Saturday, January 17. The first half of this workshop focused on the coaches delivering a 5 minute presentation to the group. Each coach was asked to prepare one slide of photos which depicted their life and their life values and how those values under pinned them as coaches. This is a very powerful exercise to go through and can be challenging because you are opening yourself up and speaking about things that are close and personal. The exercise went really well and it was hugely inspiring to listen to the coaches talking about themselves and their values and nice to get an insight into their lives. The second part of the workshop was facilitated by Sue Emerson and focused on leadership and in particular ‘servant leadership’. The concept of a servant-leader focuses primarily on the growth and well-being of people and the communities to which they belong. While traditional leadership generally involves the accumulation and exercise of power by one at the “top of the pyramid,” servant leadership is different. The servant-leader shares power puts the needs of others first and helps people develop and perform as highly as possible.
