(“McLaren Automotive”) in the U.K. for the McLaren 720S supercar and showcased on McLaren‟s stand at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, one of the world‟s largest motor shows held in Geneva, Switzerland, on March 7th, 2017. 1．Background for Creation of Digital Cockpit System With the launch of innovative Advanced Driver Assistance System (i-ADAS) Business Taskforce in July 2013, JVCKENWOOD created CAROPTRONICS*1 field by integrating the strength of both Car Electronics (car navigation devices, etc.), its largest business field, and OptoElectronics (video cameras, projectors, etc.), focusing on the development of Digital Cockpit Systems such as Head-Up Displays, Car-Mounted Full HD Cameras, Digital Instrument Cluster Meter Display and Digital Mirrors. Thus, JVCKENWOOD has enhanced initiatives with the aim to realize a motorized society with safety and peace of mind. JVCKENWOOD and McLaren Automotive have established a close relationship and conducted research and development activities toward practical application of Digital Cockpit Systems. At the International CES held in Las Vegas in 2015 and 2016, JVCKENWOOD booth highlighted McLaren Automotive‟s concept vehicle equipped with the Digital Cockpit System developed jointly by the two companies. Duffany, Ph.D. Universidad del Turabo, Gurabo, PR USA [email protected] ABSTRACT Currently it is possible to use the internet in selected urban areas such as Los Angeles or Houston to view a real- time map of vehicular traffic flow velocities on major arteries using a laptop computer display. Also for a monthly fee traffic information distributed over a Traffic Management Channel (TMC) can be integrated with automobile navigational systems to provide alternate routing capability. Both of these techniques involve a monthly charge and are limited in information they provide and areas they cover. This investigation provides an architecture and a vision to provide more fine grained real-time traffic conditions that works over a wider range of geographical areas providing situational awareness information to motorists using the infrastructure of a mobile ad-hoc network. The idea is similar to a time lapse weather satellite photograph that gives the user the raw information and allows them to use it to make decisions in the manner that best suits their individual situation.     Traffic and Travel Information (TTI) broadcasting Traffic and Travel Information broadcasting history Broadcasters recognized the need to help drivers, with easy to understand information, many years ago! EBU member organizations - the national broadcasters with country-wide coverage -have a long successful history of public service TTI broadcasting, delivered free to the end user. For many years they have cooperated to develop this important area of broadcasting through the ongoing EBU Broadcasts for Motorists activity and through the Eurotravel conferences, usually held every four years. The range of TTI broadcasting is considerable and includes many thousands of spoken TTI announcements across Europe every day, supported by TV and Teletext information and service phones. Recently this has been augmented by newly developed services using the Internet and emerging RDS-TMC services. Within the EBU framework, this significant broadcasting sector is supported operationally by daily contacts between EBU members across national boarders, to provide strategic knowledge covering TTI situations in other countries. TTI coming up-to-date In the last ten to 12 years, massive amounts of research and development have been funded by the European Commission (EC), within the very wide Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) budgets, to bring forward many technical solutions for TTI collection (eg road sensors), information interchange (eg DATEX) and dissemination (eg RDS-TMC). However, in the last five years, significant commercial exploitation, using non TTI has a long successful broadcasting delivery (eg GSM phones) has been developed to the extent that TTI - history - before RDS-TMC broadcasting and narrowcasting - now has many new opportunities and threats to consider.
