Places are not necessarily buildings, but can be historic sites of former buildings, activities or events as well as built structures such as mines, wells and roads. Entry of a heritage place into the Municipal Inventory is recognition of its importance to the community. Depending on the level of significance afforded to each place listed in the Inventory a management category is allocated which provides a recommendation for the future conservation of the place. Places recorded in the Municipal Inventory are not automatically entered into the Heritage Council's Register of Heritage Places. It is likely, however, that the sites will be included in the Heritage Council's Database. The Heritage Council Register of Heritage Places is an authoritative, comprehensive list of places that are of State cultural heritage significance. Places entered into the Register are subject to development control and are protected under the Heritage of Western Australia Act 1990. -

2015 Local Government Ordinary Elections Election Report April 2016 W ESTERN AUSTRALIAN Electoral Commission Foreword At the October 2015 local government ordinary elections, the Western Australian Electoral Commission was contracted to manage the largest number of postal elections it had ever conducted. In addition to six in person elections, the Commission was asked to run 82 postal elections under the Local Government Act 1995. With voting in local government elections being non-compulsory in Western Australia, postal elections typically result in a higher participation rate by eligible electors than in person ballots, as they offer most electors greater convenience and accessibility. Making the Electoral Commissioner responsible for these elections also enables local government CEOs and staff to remain at arms-length from potentially contentious aspects of the electoral process. Since they were first trialled in 1995, the number of local governments adopting postal elections has progressively increased. The local governments deciding to conduct a postal election in 2015 comprised some 1,433,575 electors, which is about 98% of the State’s total number of eligible electors. At the close of nominations, 964 candidates had nominated for 419 vacancies resulting in 75 separate postal elections. The highest participation rate for postal elections, both for country and metropolitan local governments in 2015 was the Shire of Mt Marshall with 82.7% and the City of Perth with 37.8%, with an overall Statewide participation rate of 27.5%. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of all returning officers and Commission staff in the planning and conduct of the 2015 ordinary elections and each of the local governments for the assistance and cooperation provided by their staff. -

The following expression of interest is intended to gauge the level of interest in the impacted communities for the Recovery and Resilience Grant Program. This is not an application for grant assistance. Property owners who are under-insured and require assistance for cyclone debris clean-up and rebuild activities, rather than resilience activities, should advise in the comments field below. Important information The Dandaragan Water Reserve water source protection plan (1999, WRP no.10) was reviewed in 2017. Please ensure you read the Dandaragan Water Reserve drinking water source protection review (2017, WRP no.167) alongside the 1999 plan to obtain all of the information about this drinking water source. The 2017 review considers changes that have occurred in and around the Dandaragan Water Reserve since the completion of the 1999 Dandaragan Water Reserve water source protection plan. Additional recommendations have been prepared to ensure the ongoing protection of this public drinking water source area: amend the Dandaragan Water Reserve existing boundary to the proposed reduced boundary, including priority areas and realigned protection zone, under the Country Areas Water Supply Act 1947 (WA) realign the 300 m radius wellhead protection zone around bore 1/81 consult land holders regarding reassigning rural land within the proposed Dandaragan Water Reserve from priority 3 to priority 2 areas prior to the next review of this water reserve. CARNABY’S BLACK COCKATOO RECOVERY TEAM Annual Report 2004 by John Blyth and Leonie McMahon for the Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo Recovery Team Introduction The Team met twice during the year, in July and December. John Ingram) • (Leonie McMahon Project officer.) Cheryl Gole (Birds Australia) and Raquel Carter (TSN/WWF) both resigned during the year because of changes in jobs. The Recovery Team thanked them both for their hard work over several years and for substantial input to the recovery program. The Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo Recovery Project, being implemented by the Project Officer Ms Leonie McMahon (employed by Birds Australia WA), was funded for the first nine months of this year by the Lotteries Commission WA. Late in 2004, the recovery team was successful in obtaining funding to continue and expand somewhat the project for another three years through a Cross Regional NHT project with Northern Agricultural Council as the lead group. This new project, with the likelihood of three years funding, continues to provide a major thrust for implementation of recovery actions. However, because not all of the funds sought were granted, a major planned sub-project in Swan Region and very significant extra effort in other regions (represented by South West Catchment Council and South Coast Regional Initiative Team) will only be possible if new funds can be obtained.
