NRG Park in Houston hosts some of the finest livestock, competitions, and stellar musical performances. History of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo This Houston tradition was established in 1931 and the first livestock show was held in the Democratic Convention Center in 1932. Over the years, the venue has changed and the show has grown from just a presentation of livestock to including a rodeo and other entertainment. These days there are multiple engaging events to see at the show. Guests can watch aspiring musicians in the Houston's Up & Comers, witness life changing events for kids with special needs at the Top Hands Horse show, and participate in Trail Rides and more. There are also many activities to keep everyone busy including a carnival, Kid's Country, shopping, and dining. From start to finish, the concert schedule each year is full of big names, with past performers including The Band Perry, Jason Derulo, Miranda Lambert, Pitbull, Kenny Chesney, Kidd Rock, Brad Paisley, and more.
