New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Softball NEW SOUTH WALES COMBINED CATHOLIC COLLEGES SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS Georges River Softball Association Kelso Park North, Milperra Tuesday 16th February 2016 1 MESSAGE FROM THE NSWCCC SOFTBALL CONVENER I would like to welcome you all to the 2016 CCC Softball Trials. Many people have worked together to make today’s event possible. I would like to acknowledge the assistance of Kym Skerritt (NSWCCC Executive Officer) and her staff, the Committee of the Georges River Softball Association, Leanne Gearside and her team of umpires, along with all other officials in attendance. Thankyou to coaches, managers, and parents for all the time and effort that has no doubt gone into the preparation and organisation required to bring our athletes together in the name of sport. Players, if you have not already done so, be sure to show your appreciation. Events such as this are traditionally marked by an obvious spirit of healthy, friendly competition and everyone involved should ensure that today is no different. Players, especially, must strive to represent their family, their school and their diocese or association with the pride, respect and dignity that has so often been on display in the past. Coach: Kirsti Proctor St Paul’s College Greystanes Manager: Scott O’Brien St Patrick’s College Sutherland Selection in the NSW All Schools team will involve playing in the School Sport Australia Championships in Melbourne from May 1 to 7. The approximate cost is $1300.00 which includes registration, playing uniform, travelling uniform and flights. Accommodation will be the responsibility of parents/caregivers. NB To be eligible for NSW All Schools selection, players must be under 18 as at 30 June this year. We pray for an enjoyable and successful trial and the safe return of all involved to their homes from all over Sydney and beyond. Enjoy your day! All conventional rules of play from the Softball Australia Playing Rules and will apply to today’s event, except where otherwise stated. 2. The team appearing first in the draw will field first (ie no toss). Dugouts are to be determined by mutual agreement. 3. Games will be of one hour and five minutes duration. This will be in the control of the umpires. If the innings is incomplete, scores will revert to the bottom of the previous innings UNLESS a team is batting second and has equalled or passed their opponent’s score. 4. Speed between change of innings will be of the essence. This will include relieving the catcher on base after two outs. 5. Match points will be awarded as follows: Win – 3 Draw – 2 Loss – 1 6. As this is primarily a trial, we will operate the 6-across-the plate rule. 7. Any further points of relevance will be pointed out prior to the tournament and/or by plate umpires before each game.     Embracing our shared responsibility for promoting the vitality of the Association and its mission The Marist Association of Saint Marcellin Champagnat Prepared by Association Executive Officer: Dr Frank Malloy 29 January 2020 1 11:40:290120 New Structure to support the growth of the Marist Association of Saint Marcellin Champagnat Introduction The Marist Association of Saint Marcellin Champagnat has grown to include almost 1000 members since its establishment in June 2014. The reasons for this number of people making the decision to join are many. The desire to “associate” as Marists has been a formal commitment to what they have felt, done and been as followers of Jesus for many years. Most would speak of having experienced meaningful, quality, rewarding work and inspirational formation in various Marist ministries. In the initial years of the Association, it was decided to create a “Pastoral Team”, whose focus was largely on development, membership and belonging. The leadership provided in defining the nature of the Association by Joe McCarthy and other members of that team has been significant in this foundation phase. Listening to the Spirit The Association’s initial document, We Marists, published in 2016 captured the collective vision and priorities of this new entity for Australian Marists for the first three years. In 2019, the Association’s second document, As Marists, describes the guiding principles discerned by members throughout 2018 and particularly the 200 delegates at the Association Assembly in Adelaide that year. Closes Wednesday, 11 November Appointment of our new College Director of Evangelisation and Catholic Formation (REC) Last Thursday, the Director of Catholic Schools Broken Bay (CSBB), Danny Casey, announced the appointment of Mr Michael Neylan (pictured right) as our permanent Director of Evangelisation and Catholic Formation from the start of 2021. A warm welcome to Michael! Michael holds a Master of Arts - Theological Studies (University of Notre Dame), a Bachelor of Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) - Australian Catholic University. Michael is currently in the Religious Education and Evangelisation Team at the Sydney Catholic Schools Office, Leichhardt. He is Acting Director of Faith and Mission at Marcellin College, Randwick. Previously he held leadership positions at both Marist College Eastwood, and Casimir Catholic College, Marrickville. Michael was the World Youth Day Panama Pilgrimage Coordinator (2017-2019) for Sydney Catholic Schools for over 230 students and staff who travelled to WYD Panama in 2019. Linked is an article which was written about Michael’s role in this pilgrimage. Michael has a great deal of experience in and around social justice initiatives, particularly around youth, and is an active member of his parish. He is also a member of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference Office for Youth National World Day Committee.
