Our learning environment has been enhanced over recent years with stunning high quality drama studio suites , refurbished science laboratories and an extension to the canteen. Our rapidly changing world demands many key skills; literacy, numeracy, computer science, social skills and citizenship. These skills are all the corner stones of our curriculum. All students take computer science lessons, which are complemented by subject-specific IT tuition within their other subject areas. Students may extend such skills through the Study Centre with its computer facilities and by attending after school programming clubs.

A programme of enrichment and extension exists for students who wish to develop their skills further. Art, IT, drama, technology, science and physical education can all be accessed after school. Students exhibiting a high level of ability are offered extended programmes and additional opportunities which broaden and deepen their interests and studies.

Throughout Key Stages 3 and 4 at Oakwood, students follow a varied programme of study which raises their awareness of personal Learning and health concerns as well as their understanding of spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues. Based on the Art and Design GCSE but using photographic equipment and processes, the course starts by introducing pupils to traditional darkroom and film techniques before developing into digital photography and editing.
