ACT NOW before it’s too late! D(eadline) Day - 5pm, 28 February, 2019 dear Supporters There are fewer than three weeks left to send a response to Enfield Council’s Local Plan Consultation, so please act now if you have not done so already! The draft Local Plan Issues and Options Consultation covers many important issues and will lead to a new version of the Local Plan that will guide the future development of Enfield until 2036. How much Green Belt does Enfield want to take? Recent reports in the press are suggesting up to 7% of the Green Belt needs to be sacrificed. This equates to two Durants Parks or Trent Parks, or ten Jubilee, Broomfield or Oakwood Parks. Who can respond to the Consultation? Anyone who lives works or studies in Enfield can respond separately, so encourage your family, friends and neighbours to have their say too. Every response counts and we need to let the Council hear a resounding NO to developing any Green Belt or open spaces. do you want to lose the Garden Centres at Crews Hill? Since the Council suggested removing Crews Hill from the Green Belt, developers have been banging on doors and trying to acquire land for houses. Please visit our website for more information www.enfieldroadwatch.co.uk If you love visiting the Garden Centres in Crews Hill, you need to tell the Council NO HOUSING dEVELOPMENT IN CREWS HILL! Is there enough space to build in Enfield without taking Green Belt? Enfield RoadWatch has been working with the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE-London) and The Enfield Society to create a comprehensive brownfield (used land) register for the borough. The report will be released this week and shows that there are many options for meeting realistic housing targets that do not include building on the Green Belt. Look out for more information about this. How do I respond and make my voice heard? There are three ways this can be done (Details at the end of this Newsletter): ñ Online ñ By Post (using the paper version of the Issue and Options document available from Libraries) ñ By email. After discussions with the Local Plan team in the Council about the many differences between the online and printed versions of the consultation, we recommend using the email option over the online version. For more information about the consultation and suggested comments on Green Belt issues visit our website. www.enfieldroadwatch.co.uk Your own thoughts and wishes need to be conveyed, though – not ours. We are not dictating what you should say, just trying to help you make an informed submission to this very important Consultation. Just say what you think about saving the Green Belt and any of the other issues you feel worthy of comment. However, if you do choose to use the wording we have set out on our website, please include the line: ‘The comments provided in my response to this consultation are my own views.’ It is crucial that you include your name and address, as anonymous responses will be discounted. The same comments could be used in the paper version as well. Send it to [email protected] Thanks to everyone who has already sent a response. We have no way of knowing how many of you have already responded but it’s nice to see the many public comments online saying how important the Green Belt is and that people want it protected for future generations. PLEASE DON’T FORGET TO RESPOND TO THE CONSULTATION. THE GREEN BELT IS COUNTING ON YOU!
