Each year, the International Women’s Forum (IWF) celebrates and recognizes the accomplishments of trailblazing women leaders by inducting them into the International Hall of Fame and conveying the Women Who Make A Difference Awards.

Through the Hall of Fame Awards, IWF is uniquely dedicated to paying tribute to the incredible impact that women of courage, creativity, and passion have in improving society and inspiring others. This black-tie celebration is a singular opportunity to inspire rising women leaders.

The 2016 Hall Of Fame Awards Gala Susana Malcorra

H.E. Susana Malcorra is Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship in the Argentine Republic, appointed by President Mauricio Macri on December 10, 2015. She holds a degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Rosario and has twenty-five years of professional experience in the private sector. Ms. Malcorra began her corporate career as a Systems Engineer at IBM, eventually moving up to CEO at Telecom Argentina, the third-largest company in Argentina at the time. Undertaking these responsibilities gave her deep insight into the management of large organizations, and she successfully led complex change processes at the same time. Ms. Malcorra left Telecom in 2002 after deciding to seek opportunities in the nonprofit sector, which she achieved in early 2004 by joining the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). She served as Chief Operating Officer of the WFP, an opportunity to put her experience and energy at the service of a new cause, superior in meaning and in magnitude. In May 2008, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon appointed Ms. Malcorra Under-Secretary-General for the Department of Field Support, where she was charged with providing logistical, communications, personnel, and financial support services to Peacekeeping Operations. In April 2012, she was appointed Chief of Staff to the Secretary-General. Thus, in addition to her long career as an executive, she has invaluable experience in the diplomatic field, including a range of activities from handling negotiations with various countries (Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Chad, Somalia and Afghanistan, among others) to the approval by the General Assembly of strategic, financial and budgetary matters involving over $9 billion dollars. Among other specific tasks, Ms. Malcorra coordinated the Mission on the Elimination of Syrian Chemical Weapons and the first Health Mission for Ebola Emergency Response in West Africa. The 2016 Hall Of Fame Awards Gala Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, South Africa

Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women. Phumzile was sworn into office in 2013 and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the U.N., having devoted her career to issues of human rights, equality and social justice. Ms. Mlambo-Ngcuka has worked in government and civil society, and with the private sector, and was actively involved in the struggle to end apartheid in her home country of South Africa. From 2005 to 2008, she served as Deputy President of South Africa, overseeing programs to combat poverty and bring the advantages of a growing economy to the poor, with a particular focus on women. Prior to this, she served as Minister of Minerals and Energy from 1999 to 2005 and Deputy Minister in the Department of Trade and Industry from 1996 to 1999. She was a Member of Parliament from 1994 to 1996 as part of South Africa’s first democratic government. Ms. Mlambo-Ngcuka began her career as a teacher and gained international experience as a coordinator at the World YWCA in Geneva, where she established a global program for young women. She is the founder of the Umlambo Foundation, which supports leadership and education. A longtime champion of women’s rights, she is affiliated with several organizations devoted to education, women’s empowerment and gender equality. She received a PhD on education and technology at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom.
