Austria Family
ZÖBING . KAMPTAL . AUSTRIA
The Schweiger winery is located in the village of Zöbing, situated in the south of the Kamptal which is one of the finest wine growing regions in Austria. According to the Austrian wine law, the “Kamptal DAC” appellation stands for wines only made of Grüner Veltliner or Riesling – either in a classic, fruit-driven style (DAC Klassik) or the richer, more full-bodied style (DAC Reserve).
FAMILY . SUSTAINABILITY . NATURE
Peter Schweiger and his son Peter Junior pay particular attention to using environmentally friendly and sustainable cultivation methods in the vineyards, showing great respect and appreciation for soil and nature. To create great wines two premises are decisive; their particular appreciation of nature and the prudent care for the vines. This spirit can be felt in all realms of their life as winemakers, and this is tasted in the excellent wines.
The labels on Peter Schweiger’s wines represent the philosophy: The compass stands for the bond with the region. The clock epitomizes their intention to give the wines as much time as possible to mature. Following this credo, the first wines of a certain vintage will not be released before the month of April (“IV”).
. . HARVEST WINES CHARACTER
The grapes are harvested according to traditional single varietal methods and then meticulously processed to enhance the natural development of the wine. After careful pressing, the grapes rest on the fine lees under temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks a little longer than usual to retain freshness and fruit character.
In addition to the signature Grüner Veltiner variety, Riesling also matures to the highest quality in the regions surrounding the Heiligenstein.

GRÜNER VELTLINER RIESLING
ZÖBINGER HEILIGENSTEIN Kamptal Reserve
The Heiligenstein, with its ruddy, weathered desert sandstone and conglomerates of volcanic components, is one of the growing areas. On the droplet-irrigated terraces Riesling and Grüner Veltliner thrive in their particularly spicy characteristic. The hard bedrock is the location specific minerals from the grape and creates terroir-specific wines.
ZÖBINGER TERRASSEN Kamptal Reserve
Kamptal Terrassen DAC Reserve reflects what the Kamptal region offers at its best in dry white wine. A minimum of 13% alcohol is required for the DAC Reserve category and the wines may not be released before April of the year following the harvest. This wine is sourced from 100% estate owned vineyards. All located in the area of Zöbing.
ZÖBINGER KOGELBERG
GRÜNER VELTLINER Kamptal DAC Like the Heiligenstein, the Kogelberg is one of the Grand Cru vineyard sides of the Kamptal region. It is approximately 300 metres above the sea level. As a result of the cool climate and the very special soil composition, the wines from Kogelberg are especially fruity.
