London Knights Hockey Club Budweiser Gardens 99 Dundas St London, ON N6A 6K1 Phone: 519-681-0800 London Knights Hockey Club Job Title: Director of Game Day Operations Reports to: Director of Marketing Description of the Organization: The London Knights Hockey club formed in 1965 as a Junior ‘A’ franchise in the Ontario Hockey Association. The team was known then as the London Nationals, a junior hockey affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs. This relationship ended in 1968 when the National Hockey League ended direct sponsorship of junior teams. From 1968 to present day, London’s favourite team, along with its rich history and winning tradition, has been the London Knights. Over the history of the team, the Knights have had great success, winning two Memorial Cups and four OHL Championships. On top of the on-ice accomplishments, the Knights have been integral in the London community assisting in charitable endeavors and establishing themselves as a benchmark in the Canadian Hockey League for on- and off-ice excellence and innovation. Duties and responsibilities: Coordinate and oversee the development and execution of game day operations including activities not limited to: o Creatively lay out each game to keep its entertainment value fresh and exciting for all patrons; o Prepare game day scripts for home games, including writing and editing PA reads, special announcements, etc.; o Execution of all hockey game events including stoppage in play promotions, intermission activities, pre- game ceremonies, etc.; o Creation, design and implementation of new game day video or promotional elements (special event video, scripting, opponent-focused marketing, etc.); o Coordinating an effective music playlist and song database (including organ music, clapping initiatives, etc.); o Organization of 50/50 draws; o Promotional review of game day assets to ensure the best fan experience; o Communication of all game day elements (corporate sponsor set up, 50/50 table locations, program stand locations, interactive zone set ups, papering of seats, handouts at doors, etc.) in a detailed operations data sheet; o Training of the London Knights game night team on an ongoing basis to ensure the highest level of service to all patrons and clients; o Coordination and executions of a game day promotional meeting prior to doors opening each game day to ensure everyone is on the same page for the night ahead; Work with all sponsors to develop and execute new and interesting game day promotions to entertain the fans during the game and bring in sponsorship revenue to the organization. Assist with marketing initiatives at the discretion of the Director of Marketing. Skills required, experiences and abilities: Minimum 2 years’ experience in a game day operations role; Strong attention to detail; Ability to multi-task and work under pressure; Ability to be extremely organized and efficient; Strong written/verbal communication skills; Strong organization and time management skills; Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and strong work ethic; Strong judgment skills and strong problem resolution; Computer skills – high level of proficiency in MS Office applications; Ability to work games on evenings and/or weekends; Video and graphic design is an asset.
