Student Equity Historically Black College & University Tour Selection

The Sierra College Division of Student Equity is sponsoring a Historically Black College & University (HBCU) student tour, March 25-31, 2018. The tour will visit Delaware State University, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, Hampton University, Bowie State University, Howard University, Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, and Virginia State University.

The tour is free of charge and is designed for eligible students interested in transferring to an HBCU. Students must have achieved a (2.0 cumulative GPA) and have completed a minimum of 12 transferable units to be eligible for the tour

Students will be required to submit an application along with unofficial transcripts from all colleges attended to the Division of Student Equity office located in the Winstead Building (L-110) by 4pm on Thursday, February 1, 2018. Students selected for the tour will be notified by February 8, 2018. Ten (10) students will be selected based on the following selection criteria:

a) Overall Transferable GPA

· 3.50-4.00 20 pts

· 3.00-3.49 15 pts

· 2.50-2.99 10 pts

· 2.0-2.49 5 pts

b) Total Number of Transferable Units Completed

· 46 or more 20 pts

· 31-45 15 pts

· 21-30 10 pts

· 12-20 5 pts

c) Attendance of HBCU College Expo (February 17) (20 pts)

d) HBCU Tour application statement (20 pts maximum) e) Completion of IGETC or CSU requirements:

· 75-100% completed 20 pts

· 50-74% completed 15 pts

· 25-49% completed 10 pts

· Less than 25% completed 5 pts

The tour includes, food, lodging, round trip airfare, bus transportation to visit Delaware State University, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, Hampton University, Bowie State University, Howard University, Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, and Virginia State University.
