Funtown Hosts Spongebob & American Idol's Kimberley Locke Plus Brooke Press Release Contact: David Despres, CBC Advertising (207) 283-9191 FUNTOWN HOSTS SPONGEBOB & AMERICAN IDOL'S KIMBERLEY LOCKE PLUS BROOKE & HULK HOGAN Saco, ME – July 26, 2004, - And you think you've got a busy weekend? To quote Funtown's Ken Cormier, "We won't have enough dressing rooms. What a weekend we have in store beginning August 7. Funtown has hosted lots of celebrities in its 40 years in Maine. But on August 7, we're about to share both Funtown and Splashtown with American Idol's Kimberley Locke while simultaneously welcoming Hulk Hogan and his performer-daughter, Brooke Hogan. Park spokesman, David Despres added, "This is the weekend we all knew was coming. Funtown/Splashtown has even had to re-accommodate Nickelodeon's SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS who will now appear on August 8." Despres continued, "in addition to the regular theme parks' visitors, the parks' Group Coordinators have advised me that nearly 2,000 guests will already be at Funtown for previously-booked corporate parties. We anticipate that the parks will be at capacity all weekend, especially since we host four 'stars' on a single date. We must make arrangements for each act's special needs. And on Sunday, August 8, it’s Spongebob's turn to see how easily his 5-foot-wide body can fit into the on-stage dressing room." Ken Cormier commented that, "After the odd weather patterns that have plagued much of America, I believe everyone feels the need to be 'amused' by great American talent and popular television characters. On August 7 and 8, we are fortunate to have both components." Funtown has its own live stage shows on a daily basis but on August 7, "the American Idol performances will take place as consecutive shows," according to Entertainment Coordinator RoseMarie Chicco. "We will then welcome Spongebob Squarepants on August 8 beginning at Noon in Splashtown and later at Funtown's Picadilly Stage." For additional information relating to times, please call Funtown Splashtown USA at 207 284-5139. .
