In a timeframe in which no real distinction was being made between astrology and astronomy, you will note, seeing a sign like this in the heavens may be classed as astronomy quite as readily as it may be classed as astrology. -

Patrick Elisa Wells And dear friend, Roberto Frost A Rose for Patrick.. Robert Frost Born Robert Lee Frost on March 26,1874 in San Francisco, California to William Prescott Frost Jr. Isabelle Moodie. His parents had Scottish and England descent. His father died in 1885, and he and his mother moved to Lawrence, Massachusetts under the patronage of Robert's grandfather. There his mother joined the Swedenborgian church where he was baptised, but he left the church in his adulthood. Frost graduated from Lawrence High School in 1892. It was there that he published his first poems, "La Noche Triste," and "The Song of the Wave," in the school's magazine. He then met and fell in love with fellow student Elinor Miriam White. The year of his graduation, he became engaged to Elinor. He attended Dartmouth College instead of Harvard because it was cheaper. He was there just long enough to be accepted into the Theta Delta Chi fraternity. He was so bored by college life that he left at the end of his first semester. Frost tries to convince Elinor to marry him before returning to St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, but fails. After leaving college, he returned home to teach and to work at various jobs including delivering newspapers and factory labor. Truly not enjoying these jobs at all, he felt his true calling as a poet. A year later, he learns that The Independent will publish his poem "My Butterfly: An Elegy" and would pay him $15. He once again tried to convince Elinor to marry him at once. -

The Irish Universities Act 1908 was a historic piece of legislation, formally closing a turbulent chapter in Irish third level education and opening a new and innovational chapter: establishing two separate universities, one in Belfast, replacing the old Queen’s College of the Royal University, the other with its seat in Dublin, a federal university comprising the Royal University colleges of Dublin, Cork and Galway, re-structured as Constituent Colleges of the new National University of Ireland. -
Howard J. Garber Letter Collection This Collection Was the Gift of Howard J
Howard J. Garber Letter Collection This collection was the gift of Howard J. Garber to Case Western Reserve University from 1979 to 1993. Dr. Howard Garber, who donated the materials in the Howard J. Garber Manuscript Collection, is a former Clevelander and alumnus of Case Western Reserve University. Between 1979 and 1993, Dr. Garber donated over 2,000 autograph letters, documents and books to the Department of Special Collections. Dr. Garber's interest in history, particularly British royalty led to his affinity for collecting manuscripts. The collection focuses primarily on political, historical and literary figures in Great Britain and includes signatures of all the Prime Ministers and First Lords of the Treasury. Many interesting items can be found in the collection, including letters from Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Robert Browning Thomas Hardy, Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, King George III, and Virginia Woolf. Descriptions of the Garber Collection books containing autographs and tipped-in letters can be found in the online catalog. You will need to purchase print copies (no ebooks) of three texts, listed in the assignment below. You may purchase these texts from a variety of sources, including traditional and online booksellers. Next to the text required texts (The Joy Luck Club and Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother) the appropriate ISBN number is listed. Please purchase that particular copy of the text to streamline page numbers. All the parts of this assignment are due the first week of school. Unlike many of the other British colonies such as India and Africa, due to its demographics the Australian colonies by and large remained absent from nineteenth-century racial violence, thus allowing greater possibilities for economic advancement and social rehabilitation of disenfranchised English populations. -

Magwitch’s Revenge on Society in Great Expectations Kyoko Yamamoto Introduction By the light of torches, we saw the black Hulk lying out a little way from the mud of the shore, like a wicked Noah’s ark. Cribbed and barred and moored by massive rusty chains, the prison-ship seemed in my young eyes to be ironed like the prisoners (Chapter 5, p.34). The sight of the Hulk is one of the most impressive scenes in Great Expectations. Magwitch, a convict, who was destined to meet Pip at the churchyard, was dragged back by a surgeon and solders to the hulk floating on the Thames. Pip and Joe kept a close watch on it. Magwitch spent some days in his hulk and then was sent to New South Wales as a convict sentenced to life transportation. He decided to work hard and make Pip a gentleman in return for the kindness offered to him by this little boy. He devoted himself to hard work at New South Wales, and eventually made a fortune. Magwitch’s life is full of enigma. We do not know much about how he went through the hardships in the hulk and at NSW. What were his difficulties to make money? And again, could it be possible that a convict transported for life to Australia might succeed in life and come back to his homeland? To make the matter more complicated, he, with his money, wants to make Pip a gentleman, a mere apprentice to a blacksmith, partly as a kind of revenge on society which has continuously looked down upon a wretched convict. -
