Since my childhood I had been listening from my ancestors and from the other people who were family friends, about the prevailing spiritual strength of ‘Pirzadas Tribe’ of Jalandhar. But the lifestyle of my present generation made me confused and disappointed on analysing the present scenario verses the past. This state of mind kept me haunting about the future of our Tribe while I remained committed to my professional/family matters for a period of about three (3) decades like that of other ‘Tribe’ members. On my pre-mature retirement in 2004, I decided to probe into the reasons for downfall and took initiative to critically analyse the situation. Fortunately, I was successful in finding adequate material like old books (Persian//English) and related material reflecting facts which disclosed about the priorities being given to our spiritual/worldly matters, an eye-opener for the Author. I have tried to be honest in presenting the facts neutrally related to conduct of the ‘Tribe’, which had severely affected and contributed in the downfall. Here, I would also like to share an interesting fact which affected the ‘Tribe’ leading to decline in the spiritual strength (Roohaaniat) that the ‘Tribe’ memebers are surviving in pressures in managing/handling their wordly affairs inspite being placed at higher positions but still unable to deliver compatible to their positions. Most of the affectees are suffering due to this spiritual decline but are not accepting the reality. This lack of acceptance, not acknowledged by the ‘Tribe’ members is blocking the realization process for revival and is like a case of patient who is reluctant to accept the fading state of his health while expecting recovery without consulting doctor. I hope that this book will help in making realize the ‘Tribe’ members of my generation and the young Pirzadas’ to make efforts for their spiritual revival. Here, I conclude with best wishes for the ‘Tribe’ to revive and with this beautiful saying of “Allama Iqbal”; “Khuda nay aaj tak us qoam ki haalat nahin badli Na ho jis ko khyal aap apni haalat kay badalnay ka”

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I feel bound to pay my thanks to Allah Almighty, who has been very kind for giving me opportunity and strength for this noble cause which was all because of Sadqa-e- “Sarkaar-e-do-Alam (PBUH)” and “Buzurgaan”. Here I am grateful to my spiritual teacher who encouraged me to do this research work on the route cause of the problems, after the 80 years of his demise/ or even after the passing of about 150 years the problem started. (Kufr Toota Khuda-Khuda Kar Ke…….) I also acknowledge from the core of my heart and will keep praying for more strength in his spirituality, “A mysterious person” who helped me a lot in compiling the incidents by showering light on each step. (Ye-Ghazi Ye-Tery Pur-asraar Bunday…….) My special thanks and prays are due for Pervez Rasheed Pirzada in providing me a lot of material and guiding me about the family’s historical knowledge on the subject. He celebrated his Platinum Jubilee on 20th October 2019 (Ma-sha-Allah) having a wonderful memory while is acknowledged by me as “The Young Old Man”.

Here a famous saying reminds me; ‘’Do all the good you can by all the means you can To all the people you can in all the places you can As Long, as Ever you can”

PART – I (PRE-PARTITION ERA – BEFORE 1947)

Introduction

The pages of the World’s history are glistened by the stories and events of Prophet Ibarahim (AS), the ancestor of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which took place some 4000 years back from now (about 2000 BC).Prophet Ibarahim (AS) fought against “Namrood” and eliminated the idolatry and offered sacrifice of his son Hazrat Ismail (AS) to the Almighty Allah which was accepted by Allah by replacing Hazrat Ismail (AS) with a male-sheep (sent from heaven). The tribe “Khizraj” was one of the descendants of Hazrat Ismail (AS) which lived about 3800 years back (1800 BC). As the time passed, after the death of Hazrat Ismail (AS), “Khizraj” like many other tribes gradually adopted idolatry again. About 3000 years from now (1000 BC), when the Prophet Moosa (AS) was sent by Almighty Allah with the Holy Book “Torah”, the tribe “Khizraj” left idolatry and adopted the true religion based on this Holy Book which was brought by Prophet Moosa (AS). While the learned scholars of “Khizraj” became great “Jew scholars” because of their knowledge & wisdom. Story of “Tubba”; About 2500 years back from now (500 BC/1040 years before Islam), the king of Yamen, Tubba-awwal Humairi set out to attack Khana-e- Ka’aba, but fell seriously ill on the way. A Jew Head scholar Shamool was also among his companions. Shamool prevented the king from attacking Khana Ka’aba and to their astonishment his ailment got cured without medicine. Shamool belonged to the “Khizraj” tribe. The story of “Tubba” has been discussed briefly in “Soorah Dukhaan, Siparah 25 (Ayet 36)” of the Holy . But detail is given in interpretations of Quraan (Tafseer). Two different references are being given below to describe this interesting story (Ref#1 is the page of “Tafseer-e-Quran” by Maulana Farman Ali & Ref#2 in leading Newspaper “Article” written by a reliable person.

Article by Dr Muhammad Naveed Al-Azhar “Tafseer-e-Quran”

“Ansaars” & Historical Background; In short, the tribes “Oas” and “Khizraj” among the descendants of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS) migrated to Yasreb (Madina) from Yeman and settled there permanently. They were invited by the King Tubba from Yamen to acquire permanent settlement in Yasreb. Prior to them, there was strong hold of Jew tribes who already had acquired permanent settlement; among them were “Banu Quraiza” and “Banu Nuzair”.

Genealogical History of Pirzadas of Jalandhar Page 10

It means, the tribes of ‘Oas’ and ‘Kizraj’ had acquired settlement in “Yasreb” prior to Islam and about 1000 years before ‘Hijra’, migration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from ”Mecca” to ‘Yasreb’ that afterward became ‘Madinatun Nabi’. Both these tribes adopted Islam and acquired the name “Ansaar” as their identity after the event of “Hijrah”, because they created a golden chapter in the history of Islam by sharing their property with those Muslims who migrated from Macca to Yasreb. This event of brotherhood is known as “Mawakhaat” in the history of Islam. In short, the people of Madina, who had entered the fold of Islam during early days, not only offered shelter to the Muslim immigrants from Macca but also shared their personal properties and business with them as real brothers. Thus, they acquired the identity as “Ansaar”. (Arabic word which means the helpers who hold hands in need) The Tribe of “KHIZRAJ”; as the Peerzaadgaan-e-Jalandhar (The descendants of the Peers (Saints) of Jalandhar, Habitent of Basti Shaikh Darwesh) belong to the lineage of the Tribe “Khizraj” therefore, detail about Khizraj is being given hereunder: (i) Before Islam Banu Khizraj were the followers of Judaism. (ii) They again adopted idolatry after the death of the Prophet Moosa. Although Prophet Ibarhim & Hazrat Ismail, their ancestors, had eliminated the idolatry. (iii) They used to perform Haj of Khana-e-ka’aba and would offer sacrifice. (iv) They would bury their dead. (v) Their economy was totally dependent on agriculture and gardening. (vi) They were better in social ethics and etiquette then Quresh and other tribes of Macca. (vii) “Abdullah bin Rawaha”, One of the three famous “Naat Khwaan” of the Prophet’s (PBUH) time belonged to “Khizraj”. (The other two famous Naat Khwaan were “Hassaan Bin Saabit and Ka-ab bin Maalik). “BANU-NAJJAAR” (An Important Branch of “KHIZRAJ”); the most importance lineage of the Tribe “Khizraj” is Banu Najjaar. (i) The mother of Hazrat Abdul Muttalib, the grandfather of our beloved Prophet Muhamamd (PBUH), was from “Banu-Najjaar”. The father of

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was in “Madina” and was staying with her, when he died and was buried there. (ii) Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stayed with the family of “Banu Najjaar” for about one month, when the Prophet (PBUH) visited “Madina” first time with his mother at the age of 6 years and also visited the grave of his Father. (iii) After the event of “Hijra”, when the Prophet (PBUH) passed through the streets of “Banu-Najjaa” pointed to the house where the Prophet’s mother had stayed and also showed the pond where he learned swimming. The Prophet also pointed out a ground where he used to play with a girl “Aneesa” in that playground. (iv) According to the references, given in “Saheeh Bukhari” and “Saheeh Muslim” the Prophet (PBUH) respected “Banu-Najjaar” and used to say that “Banu Najjaar” was the best family in Madina. (v) Hazrat Asad (RATA) BIN ZARARAH ANSARI was the chief of “Banu Najjaar”. After his death the Prophet (PBUH) himself became the leader of “Banu Najjaar”. (vi) First Muslim buried in “Jannat-ul-Baqi” graveyard was Hazrat Asad Bin Zararah (RATA) while his “Namaz-e-Janaza” was the first ever “Namaz-e- Janaza” which the Prophet (PBUH) led in “Madina”. (vii) In the same way Hazrat Muslima son of Mukhlid* Ansari (Born in 0001-Hijrah) also belonged to “Banu Najjaar”. He was regarded by Hazrat Umar bin Khattaab equal to thousand young brave Arabs and therefore, was posted as Governor of Egypt & Africa in 47 “Hijrah”. (viii) Surmah Bin Abi Anas, a great learned Christian Scholar & monk and a great poet & expert of Theology also belonged to “Banu Najjaar”. (ix) Khwaja Muhammad Abdullah Ansari (Peer-e-Hirat/Governor of Hirat) a well-known learned poet and author was also from “Banu Najjaar”.

lineage of Soharwardiyah. But Mian Ghafoor adopted lineage of Qadri Naushahi. How did it happen? It is an interesting story. The Event: Hazrat Hafiz Syed Qaayem Naushahi Barq-andaazi used to visit Jalandhar from Pak Pattan with his companions for travelling and recreation. Once on his visit, he was taking rest under the shade of a tree, in Basti Danishmandan. Meanwhile, grandfather of Mian Ghafoor passed by. He looked at Hafiz Saaheb with his spiritual inner eye and told the people of his area not to let their boys go there because a saint was sitting under the tree. His grandfather kept him limited to home. However, after some time, he felt pity for him and released. Just as he found freedom, he rushed to Hafiz Barq- andaaz and sat in his meeting and entered the fold of his devotees. At last, grandfather invited Hafiz Saaheb to his home and served him devotedly. Then Hafiz Saaheb left for Pak Pattan. Mian Ghafoor already listened that ‘Urs’ is being held after few days, so he reached there directly at Naushehra Mughlaan, Gujrat (Where Urs of “Hazrat Muhammad Suchyaar” was in progress). He received beneficence from the eyes of Hafiz Saaheb and returned back to Jalandhar. He did not waste any moment of acquiring beneficence. At last, the beneficence of “Suharwardia” gradually reduced and the beneficence of lineage of “Qadri Naushahi” captured the family of Mian Ghafoor Saaheb. Therefore, lineage of “Naushahi Sachyaari Barq-andaazi” kept spreading in Jalandhar far and wide as is evident in the Shajra-e-Murshadyah. He had done a great work in piety and mysticism spiritual exercise. He kept fasting life time and worshiping all the night for about seventeen years. He used to travel frequently and would spread his beneficence among human beings without discrimination of travel or staying at home. Nawab Khan Firdausi of Bahawalpur was his devotee and also donated money for the construction of shrine of Hazrat Muhammad Sachyaar (RUA).He stayed at Gujrat for two months and returned back to Jalandhar after getting the work completed. His spiritual guide Hafiz Syed Qaayem Ali Barq-andaaz (RUA) died in 1742 AD. Therefore, offerings were presented to his son Syed Ghulam Rasool and the construction was started by Mian Ghafoor Saaheb. He returned to Jalandhar from Pak Patan after the construction work was completed.

Pirzada Ghulam Haider was the eldest son of Hakeem Ghulam Qadir Asar and was born to his first wife ‘Syeda Shah Begum’ (The sister of “Mian Fateh Muhammad”, the then Sajjadah Nasheen of Hazrat Shah Noor Jamal, Sulehran Sharif, Hoshiyarpur). He never married and lived a saintly life. Qualifications & Career (i) Matriculation from Govt Islamia High School Jalandhar City. (ii) Intermediate from Islamia College Jalandhar. (iii) Passed the Examination in Revenue Deptt & joined as Tehsildar. (iv) Was serving as Tehsildar upto 1935. (v) Used to wear western style dress in routine, but faced a life turning incident. Life Turning Incident; which happened in 1935; turned over a new leaf and after leaving the job, became a saint. Detail is that an important member of his family, who was facing difficulties and problems in his job, approached his father Ghulam Qadir Asar, for help. Ghulam Qadir sb went to a saint named SaeeN Deenay Shah for special prayer, far away from Jalandhar, who possessed miraculous powers. Pirzada Ghulam Haider was also accompanied with him. Ghulam Haider did not believe and showed his reluctant that a simple poor looking person, who was living in a jungle, could do any good for them. The saint caught the eyes of Ghulam Haider and instructed his father to take him to the

Genealogical History of Pirzadas of Jalandhar Page 40

shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Ajmeri in Ajmer Sharif. He also assured that his work would be done with the help of Allah, accordingly. As the command had been given, Ghulam Haider turned over a new leaf after reaching Ajmer Sharif. He left the worldly life and acquired saintly life. His spiritual training was completed by a special devotee of Ghulam Qadir Asar in due course. Spiritual Turn in Life; after the death of his father in 1937, Pirzada Ghulam Haider ran the “Silsila-e-Naushahi Barqandazi Azmi” till his death in 1951. His pedigree of Tareeqat reaches Saaeen Deeney Shah Majzoob (resident of Bhalanah & - Jalandhar), Devotee of Baba Qasim Ali Araein behari puri, Devotee of Haji Syed Noor Muhammad Behari puri, Devotee of Syed Ibrahim Behari puri Kapurthala state. This linage proceeded to Naushah Gunj Bukhsh through Hazrat Shaikh Abdur Rehman Bharri wala. Many years before the division of India, he had a chance to visit Lahore Where he asked his devotees about their graveyard and went Miani Saheb graveyard, Lahore to select a peaceful corner for his grave. His present grave place is in the corner of “Pirzada family graves”, with in the boundry of “Faqeer Khana family graveyard” and just beside the Eidgah/Janaazgaah. Moreover, he told them that India is going to be divided, so bury me here. He also told them to bury him (2nd time) near the steps of his mother when Muslims return back to India as conqueror, b’caz all the deceased family members were buried in Basti Shaikh Darwesh and Basti Danishmandan, India (before partition). According to his ‘will’, he was buried there and the shoes of his guide (Murshid) were placed near his head in grave. As none of the descendants of Pirzada Family showed interest in Piri-Muridi (devotedness & Sufism). His brother, Pirzada Abdul Hameed, in the presence of all family members (including Syed Mushtaq Ahmad Hoshiarpuri Sb and all his sons + all brothers of Pirzada Ghulam Haider) announced the discontinuation of the Silsila. Surprising Dream Incident; on the very next day of funeral of Pirzada Ghulam Haider, Mian Bakhsh Elahi (Chairman Crescent group) one of the friends of Pirzada Hameed came from Lyallpur (Faisalabad) and told that Haider Shah had came in his dream and gifted a shoe which was placed near his head on the bed (who have spiritual eye, can understand it well).

Genealogical History of Pirzadas of Jalandhar Page 41

It was one from the pair of the shoes that his devotee Maai GomaaN had taken with her, just one day prior, after the death of Pirzada Ghulam Haider. (Maai GomaaN was an old lady from the family of Dhareediye Qawwal and had sworn long ago as devotee of Pirzada Ghulam Haider and had taken his shoes as memorial for her. The family of Dhreediye Qawwal and their fore-fathers had been devotees of Pirzada Ghulam Haider’s incesters since the time of Haji Baba, who was ancestors of Fateh Ali/ Mubarak Ali Qawwal and ). As none from the family of Pirzada Ghulam Haider showed any interest in promoting the “Silsila” and had involved in worldly Degrees and other matters, it is understood that perhaps it was the sign of diverting this “Silsila” to them. Non-Awareness; in 2014, I myself contacted Mr Riaz Masood son of Mian Bakhsh Elahi (Elder son Mr Maqbool Elahi had died in the year 2007) and Mr Muhammad Arshad (Nephew of Mian Bakhsh Elahi) in Faisalabad and tried to know details about the spiritual involvement of any family person on which, I came to know that Mian Bakhsh Elahi died in 1977 while the next generation is not aware of any such incident / involvement. Another effort made by the writer was to find out Munshi Ali Bakhsh (lived in Multan) remained seriously involved in this Silsila in the past years and being a special devotee might have been a candidate for the inheritance of this chain. But it was revealed that Munshi Ali Bakhsh had already passed away in 1980. Despite efforts, I have not been able to make any contact with his children (or son Akber) and any other relatives. Silsila-e-khilafat & “Peerzaadgan”; In short, Silsila-e-Khilafat of the Nobel family of “Khanwada-e-Tartoosiah, Qadiryah, Naushahiyah, Barqandaziyah, Azamiyah” which had been an integral part of the family of “Peerzaadgan”, have left no traces after the death of last Khalifa in 1951. Today nobody is aware of “to whom it had been transferred & where it stands today” and is a mystery till today. About the Grave; The verse inscribed on the shrine of Pirzada Ghulam Haider:

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. 14. PIRZADA ABDUL HAMEED : (6.12.1893 – 23.10.1964) (Buried in Chungee no. 8 Graveyard, Multan City)

1952 1962 1942 – 3rd from left - with Quaid-e-Azam in Jalandhar 1926

Pirzada Abdul Hameed was the 1st son of Pirzada Ghulam Qadir Asar from his second wife (Mehboob Begum). His wife’s name was Meraj Begum (1898 – 1964 - daughter of Hakeem Nazeer Ahmad Qureshi). He was blessed with three daughters (Waheeda, Fehmida and Asifa) and three sons (Waheed, Saeed and Moeed). The detail about all of them (3 sons & 3 daughters) will be presented in upcoming pages. Aligarh College Factor; As we all know that Quaid-e-Azam, the greatest leader of the Sub- Continent, brought a new life in the divided and dis heartened Muslims of the sub-continent. In the same scenario, Aligarh College played a great and important role in character building of the young Muslim Students. One young man from Jalandhar, Pirzada Abdul Hameed, also entered the field of politics in India. He was a graduate from Aligarh College and his heart was filled with the fire of ambitions and enthusiasm to win freedom for the Muslims of the Sub-continent. Joining Politics; He started his political career with the commencement of “”, that was an important milestone of bringing political awareness

Genealogical History of Pirzadas of Jalandhar Page 43

among the Muslims of the Sub-continent. Despite its failure,”Khilafat Movement”, had played great job in accelerating the Freedom Movement across India. Pirzada Abdul Hameed started his political activities from Ghaziabad (UP). He was elected as General Secretary of “Merith Committee”. As per instructions of his father, he returned back to jalandhar with one of his close friend “Muhammad Ali Aazar”. Aazar was also a member of the team who used to organize “Weekly Tarhi Mushaera” in Jalandhar. Role in Literary Activities - India; “Weekly Tarhi Mushaera” became a popular event of Jalandhar and the most prominent poets including; Abul Asar Hafeez Jalandhari, Rasa Jalandhari and Aish Feerozpuri cherished to attend it. Therefore, he founded a literary organization “Bazm-e-Girami” and held the post of “General Secretary”. Founder of Seerat Committee; He had great love for the religion “Islam" and the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), and to satisfy his religious thirst for serving Islam and the Prophet (PBUH) he founded a “Seerat Committee”. This Committee used to arrange different religious programs to raise Islamic sentiments and love for the Prophet (S.A.W) especially in young Muslims who used to bring their processions on the “Birth Anniversary of the Prophet - Jashn-e-Wiladat-e-Rasool PBUH.”. The Kuffaar and the Anti-Muslim elements of the society tried hard to stop these processions, but Mr Justice Zakauddin (Session Judge) showed his determination by summoning that the procession would certainly be brought out and he himself would accompany the front line of the procession. Joining All India Muslim League; In 1935, on appeal of the “Quaid-e-Azam”, Pirzada Abdul Hameed formally joined “All India Muslim League’ the only political party of the Muslims in sub-continent and was also a fan of the “Quaid-e-Azam”. After joining the “All India Muslim League”; he devotedly started working to organize “Muslim League” in Jalandher. He made the Muslims (of Jalandhar) aware of the “Two Nation Theory of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan”, the Idealogy of “Allama Iqbal” for a separate state of Muslims of the Sub-Continent.

Genealogical History of Pirzadas of Jalandhar Page 44

This devoted Day-Night struggle showed its bright results when in the Election of 1937 “Muslim League” candidate won the seat of assembly. He was the only Muslim who won on the ticket of “Muslim League” in the entire Punjab. It was the result of his devotion and hard work for the Muslims that Pirzada Abdul Hameed was elected as “President” of the Jalandhar Branch of “All India Muslim League” in 1942. He was also the president of the reception Committee for the historic meeting of “All India Muslim league Students Federation” that was held in Jalandhar in 1942. Quaide-e-Azam presided over that meeting and admired its arrangements and success in these words: “This meeting has increased my courage and age” Pirzada Abdul Hameed started a movement to create awareness in Muslims on the emergence of conspiracies in 1942, hatched to create religious and cast bigotry and was later joined by Maulana which emerged as more active movement. He was also a prominent member of the “Educational Movement” of Sir Syed Ahmed khan, in Jalandhar and a Manager of the “-e-Khadimaan- e-Islam” Jalandhar. This Anjuman established Islamia College Jalandhar, Do-Aabah High School and many primary schools. A Strange Way of Creating Awareness About Pakistan; Pirzada Abdul Hameed used to publish handbills on different topics like; “Why do we demand Pakistan?”, “Pakistan is a rope of unity in Islamic world” etc. Students of Jalandhar would distribute these handbills in Rils at Jalandhar Railway station which was a junction for trains going to every direction of India. Later, this idea was adopted across the India. In 1946 when “” came down to India to resolve the matter for demand of freedom and creation of the Pakistan, The Congress to misguide the British representative and the Muslims of India, created false party “Momin Congress” a subsidiary of Congress. Momin congress was created to make British understand that “All India Muslim League” was not the only representative of the Muslims of the India.

Genealogical History of Pirzadas of Jalandhar Page 45

A traitor ‘Zaheeruddin’ who was the president of ‘Momin Congress’, released a statement against the Muslims, on behalf of Congress, that twenty million members of Momins were with the Congress. To meet this challenge, Pirzada Abdul Hameed sent a telegram to the British Government through one of his companion Maulana Muhammad Ismail, Jalandhari; “We, the two Crore Members of Momin Congress have full faith on Quaid-e-Azam and are ready to sacrifice our lives on his command” (President All India Momin Congress). This telegram was presented to the House of Common in England when a member rose question asking whether Muslim league be given more importance or not. This on time action killed the conspiracy against the All India Muslim League, in the bud. Migration to Pakistan; According to his commitment, he was among the last group of Muslims that migrated from Jalandhar to Pakistan. In Pakistan, he was appointed as Custodian of Hindu’s Properties in Lahore. Afterwards he also spent some time in Rawalpindi but being an active Person, he could not adjust in still atmosphere of Rawalpindi and moved to Multan and acquired permanent residence there. He started practice of law again in Multan. Role in Literary Activitities – Pakistan; He founded a literary organization “Markaz-e-Rang-o-Boo”, with the cooperation of “Advocate Agha Sher Ahmed Khaamosh”, so as to satisfy his thirst for literary activities. He had been the President of Multan Bar Association. Also, the pioneer and Life time President of “Aligarh Old Boys Association Multan”. He was awarded “Kaarkunan-e-Tehreek-e-Pakistan Gold Medal” in 1991 (after death) from the . This medal was also given to Abul Asar Hafeez Jalandhari (for National anthem) in 1988, Aziz Baig (author of the Book” Quaid-e-Azam”) in 1989 and to Murtaza Ahmed Khan Maikash (poet and worker of ) in 1990. Objective to Explore; The compilation is made to collect & release all information about the ‘Tribe of Pirzadas’, which is obtained from the old Books written in Persian/English/Urdu, so that new generation of our Tribe may get aware about their Ancestors’ genealogical / spiritual history and also to make them realize about the main reasons which became a source for downfall of the Tribe. Ancestors Spiritual Strength; Spiritual background of the Tribe is very strong, as have been reflected in this Article with the references. In society and social circles they enjoyed higher positions related to worldly affairs up-till creation of the Pakistan. The ‘Tribe’ maintained Jalandhar as the ‘Tribe Base’ for about Four Centuries as remained inter-connected and participative on all occasions/sufferings in the family. Incidents faced - as an Eye Opener; The Tribe faced some incidents which are remembered to be the cause of downfall of the Tribe and are highlighted below:- (a) The effects of an incident are still visible on the Pirzadas’ tribe since 1880, which were triggered against seven generations of this tribe by a Hindu ‘Jotshee’s Kundli’(in Simla) during the era of mid 1870-1875. (b) Due to spiritual strength, the tribe remained protected from the ‘Kundli’ attack upto 1937/1951, as was not damaging the higher side but it effected while got surfaced after the suspension of ‘Khilafat’ from the tribe since 1951. (c) Moreover, the Tribe faced 3 major eye opening incidents in 1935 which can be shared face to face with the seriously interested persons of the “Tribe” whenever desired. (d) Four persons from the tribe did make effort (partially) in the recent past but failed due to lack of being strong support from any ‘Mentor/Murshid’.

Tribe Scenario after the Migration; The effects on “Pirzadas’ Tribe" after the migration to Pakistan are reflected below:- (a) On migration to Pakistan after 1947, the tribe got scattered in five different Cities ie Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Karachi & Quetta while ego and the distance factor dominated on the tribe leading to struck of Annual/other family gatherings that too with less/casual participation. (b) This scattered settling arrangement of the Tribe lead to failures in helping/ rescuing each other from the sufferings. (c) “Silsila-e-khilafat” of the noble family of “khanwada-e-Tartusia, Qadirya, Naushahia, Sachyaria, Burqandazia & Azamia”, which was an integral part of the family of Pirzadas’, have left no traces after the death of last “Khalifa” in 1951, due to non-interest of the family members. As of today nobody is aware of this mystery “to whom it had been transferred & where it stands today”. (d) The sign of hospitality a symbol of Tribe pride got diminished after the migration as reduced to very low while the values got reshaped especially in the political and financial affairs disturbing the social norms as well in a new born country environment. Realization made; The realization is based on certain trends/attitudes which got emerged since 1870, are highlighted below:- (a) Some of the Family members (including the author) realized and evaluated the reasons about the fall of the Tribe and taken help in this regard from the reliable spiritual personalities. (b) Lack of Interest and casual attitude was observed in following the spiritual practices of our Ancestors, as follower and in practicing the religious obligations. This point is particularly highlighted to make realize the “young Pirzadas” as how casual was our attitude of that generation about performing the religious obligations. (c) For example, a family member performed his religious obligation (Haj) in 1923 being the first out of the 17 cousins’ in that generation while the 2nd person who performed this ‘Fareeza’ in 1990 almost after a period of 67 years. Adequate realization on the subject is still deficient, as only 7 out of the 31 cousins from next generation have

been able to perform this religious obligation, which is very unfortunate and is an eye opener for the tribe. (d) The influence of ‘Aligarh’ trends had left severe effects on individuals’ spiritual life after the 1880. In fact, the “Tribe” had to protect the family’s precious inheritance/traditions as well, along with acquiring modern and scientific knowledge. Nobody expressed his/her concern on this development but kept silent and still ignoring it. (e) The Effect of diminishing trends in the tribe relating to the ‘Haqooq-ul-ibaad’ & ‘Sila-Rehmee’ which got emerged after the migration. Spiritual Role in Revival; Serious efforts are to be made by each member of the tribe to make realize each other in finding solution for the problems being faced by individuals of the Tribe, as 68 years have been passed in the same status- quo (after 1951). The realization surfaced above recommends certain steps which are required to be practiced for the revival of this spiritual strength in the Tribe and are highlighted below:- (a) Reliable and a spiritual person identified the tribe problem and advised the ‘Author’ that he is only a humble “Physician” not a “Surgeon” who can suggest to resolve the problem but recommended to approach a spiritually strong person for the remedy as permanent solution, while he narrated the problem as:-

“ It is a dilemma….. old enough….. That let not fly….. neither fall…..”

(b) Frequent gathering are to be organized and participated religiously by t the tribe members especially the elders to set example which will help I in sharing each other issues for rescue and support.

(c) Spiritual value/practices of the Ancestors be traced/practiced instead of ignoring and blaming each other and try to be a practicing Muslim with clarity. (d) Practicing ‘Haqooq-ul-ibaad’ & ‘Sila-Rehmee’ is desperately needed and is to be made as part of life in the family, as a discipline for the youngers to grow.
