Karl Joseph 42 KARL JOSEPH 42 SCHOOL WEST VIRGINIA BORN 9/8/1993 ACQUIRED UFA (L.V.) – ‘20 EXPERIENCE FIFTH YEAR SAFETY 5-10, 200 CAREER TRANSACTIONS Drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the first round (14th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft…Signed by the Cleveland Browns as an unrestricted free agent on March 18, 2020. AWARDS/HONORS • Pro Football Writers of America’s All-Rookie Team (2016). 2020 • Played in 14 games with eight starts at SS, totalling 64 tackles (44 solo), one interception, four passes defensed and career-high two fumble recoveries. • Inactive (hamstring) Weeks 5-6. • Started at SS in Browns debut at Baltimore in Week 1. • In Week 3 win over Washington, registered first INT since 2018 and returned it career-long 49 yards to set up go-ahead Browns TD in second quarter. • During Week 11 victory against Eagles, logged two solo tackles, one fumble recovery and one special teams tackle. Recovered fumble forced by DE Cameron Malveaux on Eagles' opening drive that reached the Browns' 5-yard line. • During Week 13 victory at Tennessee, started at SS, totalling three solo tackles and one fumble recovery. On opening play of Titans' second drive, recovered fumble forced by DT Sheldon Richardson to help create early 17-0 Cleveland lead. • Started at SS against Ravens in Week 14, posting team-best seven tackles (five solo). • During Week 15 win at NY Giants on Sunday Night Football, started at SS, earning team-best 10 tackles (eight solo) and two passes defensed, tying a career high for both categories. On fourth- and-2 from Browns 6 in second quarter, split tackle (S Sheldrick Redwine) of NY Giants RB Wayne Gallman to force turnover on downs. Recovered onside kick in fourth quarter to help seal victory. Led punt team unit for first time in career with S Andrew Sendejo out. 2020 POSTSEASON • During AFC Wild Card win at Pittsburgh, started at SS, recording one solo tackle, one QB hit and one fumble recovery. On game's opening play, recovered fumble in end zone for TD after snap went over Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger's head, giving Browns early 7-0 advantage. Marked first time since at least 1994 that a defensive TD was scored in the first 15 seconds of a playoff game (14 seconds) and the first time a team scored a defensive TD on the first play from scrimmage in the playoffs since 1965. The last time the first play from scrimmage resulted in a defensive touchdown in any game occurred in 2018 (Week 1). During ensuing series, disrupted Roethlisberger to help force CB M.J. Stewart's interception that sparked Cleveland's next TD and 14-0 lead in first quarter. Mike Clay's 2020 NFL Projection Guide Updated: 9/10/2020 Glossary: Page 2-33: Team Projections Page 34-44: QB, RB, WR and TE projections Page 45-48: Category Leader projections Page 49: Projected standings, playoff teams and 2021 draft order Page 50: Projected Strength of Schedule Page 51: Unit Grades Page 52-61: Positional Unit Ranks Understanding the graphics: *The numbers shown are projections for the 2020 NFL regular season (Weeks 1-17). *Some columns may not seem to be adding up correctly, but this is simply a product of rounding. The totals you see are correct. *Looking for sortable projections by position or category? Check out the projections tab inside the ESPN Fantasy game. *'Team stat rankings' is where each team is projected to finish in the category that is shown. *'Unit Grades' is not related to fantasy football and is an objective ranking of each team at 10 key positions. The overall grades are weighted based on positional importance. The scale is 4.0 (best) to 0.1 (worst). A full rundown of Unit Grades can be found on page 51. *'Strength of Schedule Ranking' is based on 2020 rosters (not 2019 team record). '1' is easiest and '32' hardest. See the full list on page 50. *Note that prior to the official release of the NFL schedule (generally late April/early May), the schedule shown includes the correct opponents, but the order is random *Have a question?
