and families who have come to the U.S. in search of a better life. o h P ◆ Esperanza began 15 years ago as the Los Angeles Detention Project of Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC) and successfully represented clients in immigration court, won them relief from removal, and secured much-needed reforms. CLINIC’s Los Angeles Detention Project was adopted by CCLA ten years ago, in 2008, and renamed Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project. Esperanza also serves adults detained at Adelanto Detention Center, many of whom qualify for the National Qualified Representative Program for adults deemed mentally incompetent to represent themselves. Esperanza also gives continuing legal education to attorneys in order to expand services available to immigrant communities, as well as advocates for the rights of immigrants by participating in community events, hosting educational workshops, and supporting local and national policy

Major Donors Since 1919, Catholic Charities has served the needy and impoverished residents of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties by providing emergency food and shelter, case management and supportive services. All programs are designed to enable clients to become self-sufficient. With the financial support of individual donors, churches, foundations, corporations, organizations and federal, state and local governments, as well as in collaboration with other social service agencies, Catholic Charities of Los Angeles rendered almost 800,000 services during the past fiscal year (July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018). Without the help of these dedicated partners, the human services’ work of Catholic Charities could not continue.
