TUN MAHATHIR MOHAMAD ARRIVED IN LONDON FOR A FOUR-DAY WORKING VISIT Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad receiving The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC, Commonwealth Secretary-General at York House, London — Photo Wisma LONDON, JAN 17: Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad arrived in London on for a four-day working visit accompanied by his wife, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Marzuki Yahya and senior officials from the Foreign Ministry. This was the second visit by Tun Dr Mahathir to the UK since becoming prime minister on May 10th last year. During the visit, Tun Dr. Mahathir met with the Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland and also had the opportunity to address the forum at The Oxford Union. Tun Dr. Mahathir became the first Malaysian and ASEAN leader to be invited to address the forum. Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali had the opportunity to attend a private luncheon hosted by the Perwakilan London at the High Commission in Belgrave Square. The visit aimed at continuing the long standing good relations established between Malaysia and the United Kingdom. The event started with the national anthem Negaraku followed by a recitation of Du'aa by Mr. Hadrizammi Mustafa. Mrs. Fazdiana Daud, Acting Chairperson for the Perwakilan delivered her welcoming speech followed by remarks from the Patron, Mr. Mohd Suhaimi Jaafar, CDA a.i. Mrs. Fazdiana later had the opportunity to hand out certificates of appreciation to all outgoing committee members. 3 long standing members were also honoured with a custom made Photobook. FOREIGN MINISTER VISITS THE CHANCERY LONDON, MAR 17: Malaysian Foreign Minister, YB Dato' Saifuddin Abdullah made a short visit to the Chancery, in Belgrave Square. YB Dato Saifuddin and delegation were greeted by Charge d'Affaires a.i. Mr. Mohd Suhaimi Jaafar and wife and the Head of Departments. HARIMAU LONDON PROMOTES PALM OIL IN THE UK DEPUTY MINISTER LAUNCHED OFFICIAL JERSEY Charge d’Affaires a.i, Mr. Mohd Suhaimi Jaafar presenting the Harimau London FC’s new jersey to YB Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin. LONDON, APR 5: YB Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, Deputy Minister of Primary Industries graced the launching ceremony of Harimau London FC official jersey "Love My Palm Oil" edition at the Malaysia Hall. The “Love My Palm Oil” logo was chosen as an effort to promote the campaign which was launched early this year by the Ministry of Primary Industries. Charge d’Affaires a.i Mr. Mohd Suhaimi Jaafar presented the jersey to the Deputy Minister as a symbolic gesture of the launch. The event received media coverage from TV3 and The New Straits Times. Currently lined up by members of the High Commission and Malaysian students, the team now plays in the Camden Soccersixes League, Division 4 of England’s Futsal League. WINTER 2019 FAMILY BOWLING EVENT BRING STAFFS AND FAMILIES CLOSER LONDON, FEB 17: The High Commission Sports & Social Club together with the Perwakilan London have successfully organised the annual Winter 2019 Family Bowling Tournament at the Airport Bowl near Heathrow. This year's tournament saw 55 bowlers (11 teams) competing in men's, ladies, mixed and children’s categories. Mr. Mohd Suhaimi Jaafar, as Charge d'Affaires a.i. and also Patron for the Sports Club was given the honour for the first throw. IMPROVED ERCL DEAL: COSTS REDUCED BY RM21.5 BILLION KUALA LUMPUR, APR 4: The government has reduced the cost of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project by RM21.5 billion. The Prime Minister’s Office, in a statement today, said the original RM65.5 billion construction cost for Phase 1 and 2 had been reduced to RM44 billion. The 640km track will run from Port Klang to Kota Bharu covering Selangor, WP Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang,Terengganu and Kelantan.
