Brough Superior SS 100 Great Britain, 1940 The legendary motorcycle was created by George Brough, a talented engineer and one of the best sportsmen in the UK. This perfectionist dreamed of the world’s most perfect premium motorcy- cle and therefore named his motorcycle “Brave Superior”. The most famous model in the history of the brand - “SS 100” debuted in 1924. each motorcycle was provided with a special certificate verifying the fact that 100 mph was indeed achieved during the motorcycle testing. Brough Superior was named “Rolls-Royce among Motorcycles”. These motorcycles were collect- ed by the national hero of Great Britain and the brilliant adventurer Lawrence of Arabia, riding one of them he tragically finished his vivid life journey. By the end of the 1930s the Japanese broke off rela- tions with the Americans and signed a contract with the company “Nihon Nai-Enki” for the production of motorcycle with 1340-cc flat-head engine, named Kurogane - “Black Iron”. Motorcycles Kurogane Type 95 were used primarily for the transport of officers. The cre- ators of the motorcycle largely copied Harley-Davidson, but added quite a few original solutions. The first Mars A20 made in 1920 all was woven of original technical and design solutions. L-head boxer 956 cc engine was produced by Maybach. The basis of the motorcycle was a box-type framework, in which were located fuel and oil tanks, as well as a glove box. The engine was started by a rotating handle through a special drive. “White Mars” had been producing before 1932 and still considered to be an engineering and design mas- terpiece. Museum concept «Motorworld by V.Sheyanov» provides a comprehensive and objective view of the Golden Age of motorcycle industry. To achieve this, we gather around the world and restore mo- torcycles to the «like new» condition. Our collection consists of 3 the major branches: 1 Elite military motorcycles. Each of the selected iconic motorcycles was once an engineering break- through at humanity’s path to perfection in the Golden Age. 3 Tricycles. These trikes and half-tracked combat vehicles, special excellence in the creation of which reached the Italian engineers. «Motorworld» has the most representative collection of tricycles in the World. The core The spirit of the Golden Age of motorcycle industry found the most vivid embodiment in motorcycles with an engine capacity of 800 cc. “Heavy motorcycles” were engineering masterpieces and cost as a house, but motorcycle lovers were ready to pay any money for owning a steel alloy of power and speed. The core of the Motorworld’s collection is made up of heavy motorcycles. They were pro- duced in 14 countries and we collected almost all of them. To study all about Golden Age of motorcycle industry, we supplemented the core of the collection with specialized, national and proprietary lines of motorcycles, and also assembled a unique collection of tricycles. 1. The supplier of the military company Gnome-Rhône was choking with new orders. The French were forced to look for new suppliers for the army from their neighbors. Accord- ing to the test results, Belgian Gillet Herstal 720 was chosen. First 50 motorcycles were almost ready when the German company Bosch, which manufactured electrical equip- ment for a motorcycle, refused an order, and on May 10, 1940, Germany attacked Bel- gium.     June 8, 2020 2020 Vintage Motorcycle Days postponed In accordance with "Responsible RestartOhio" guidelines for holding public events in the Buckeye State in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the AMA and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course have postponed 2020 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days. Held at Mid-Ohio in Lexington, Ohio for the past 24 years, the annual celebration of America's motorcycling heritage was scheduled to take place July 10-12. New dates for the event later in 2020 have not been finalized. Learn about the 'Lords of the Board Track' raffle bike "What if there were still a board-track racing class?" That was the question that motivated custom motorcycle builder Kevin Dunworth when he designed and built the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame's "Lords of the Board Track" raffle bike. This stunning machine started life as a 2003 Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary Edition Sportster XL 883 Custom and now offers a powerful combination of early 20th-century styling and modern air-cooled V-twin performance. From the Archives Here's a photo of AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Joe Petrali aboard the Harley-Davidson streamliner on which he set an AMA land speed record. Petrali posted a two-way average speed of 136.183 mph on the sandy shores of Daytona Beach, Fla., on March 13, 1937. The streamliner featured a 61-cubic-inch, overhead-valve engine.
