October 23-31 is designated National Red Ribbon Week, when pledges are made to present a unified and visible commitment toward the creation of a Drug-Free America. Some of our schools have activities planned during different weeks of October. • A.R. Rucker Middle – Oct. 15-19 Theme: Life is a journey, Travel Drug Free. – Monday, Oct. 15 • Rally in Red - wear red & blue – Tuesday, Oct. 16 • Put a on drugs - wear – Wednesday, Oct. 17 • Shade out drugs - wear – Thursday, Oct. 18 • it to drugs - wear crazy – Friday, Oct. 19 • Team up against drugs - wear favorite team attire – Door Decorating Contest: social for winner • Andrew Jackson Middle - Oct. 22-26 Large red ribbons on the front doors and red solo cups on the car loop fence to show drug awareness in our community. Each morning there will be drug facts on the morning announcements.

– Monday, Oct. 22 • Proud to be Drug Free by wearing red shirts for awareness – Tuesday, Oct. 23 • I am up against drugs- to represent your favorite team/ Students sign Red Ribbon Pledge Cards during lunch – Wednesday, Oct. 24 • Drugs are Old School wear old school clothes for Decade Day

(Continued on next page) – Thursday, Oct. 25 • I am a “jean-us,” I’m drug-free- Wear jeans and favorite . Music students play scales from first bell to last bell. Students will play scales during the entire day. This meets the SC Music Standards and is a fun way for students to see that all day scales can be played. – Friday, Oct. 26 • I’m drug-free from head to toes - Crazy hair, crazy socks, crazy clothes. Ice Cream Social for all students to up learning about drugs and it’s best to love Drug Free!

• Brooklyn Springs Elementary - Oct. 29- Nov. 2 The theme this year is “Life is your journey, travel drug free!” – Monday, Oct. 29 • Let’s put a STOP to drugs……wear red. Students and faculty will wear as much red as possible. Students are not allowed to spray their hair. – Tuesday, Oct. 30 • Give drugs the ….wear bedroom . Students and faculty may wear bedroom slippers and they may include crazy socks with the slippers. – Wednesday, Oct. 31 • Read about me, I’m drug free…Book character day. Students and staff dress up as their favorite book character. Characters that are too scary such as goblins, witches or monsters are not allowed. Instead, students should come as any Dr. Seuss character, cartoon characters, Disney characters or action heroes (Ninja Turtles, Superman, Power Rangers, etc.) Students are not to bring accessories for their such as swords, knives, guns, wands, etc. Students need to bring the book that represents their character. Students may not spray their hair or wear a mask. – Thursday, Nov. 1 • You won’t see me doing drugs….wear camo. Students and staff wear camouflage clothes, and . Students may not paint their face or wear a mask. – Friday, Nov. 2 • Team up against drugs…wear your favorite team or shirt. Students dress to represent their favorite sports team.

• Buford Elementary - Oct. 29- Nov. 2 – Monday, Oct. 29 • Pajama Day – Wear that adhere to the . – Tuesday, Oct. 30 • Camouflage Day – Wear your fishing attire and/or camouflage clothing. – Wednesday, Oct. 31 • Book character Day – Dress up as your favorite book character. – Thursday, Nov. 1 • Mismatched Day – Wear mix and match or mismatched clothing. – Friday Nov. 2 • Class Day – Wear your class t-shirt and jeans.

(Continued on next page) • Buford Middle - Oct. 29- Nov. 2 – Monday, Oct. 29 • Our school is red hot against drugs - students wear red. A large red ribbon will be created during exploratory classes. – Tuesday, Oct. 30 • It’s hip to be drug free - students dress like a hippy. Students receive a candy surprise. – Wednesday, Oct. 25 • Our school is “red carpet ready” we don’t need drugs - students dress like a Hollywood char- acter. Students sign a star for being drug free that will go on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. – Thursday, Oct. 26 • Drugs are old school- students dress in their favorite decade. Students receive a sticker/prize. – Friday, Oct. 27 – – Drugs make you “dizzy” I’d rather go to “Disney” - students dress like a Disney character. A speaker will be on campus to discuss the importance of being Drug Free.

• Clinton Elementary - Oct. 22- 26 – Monday, Oct. 22 • Marvelous Monday- “Our future is so bright we have to wear shades!” – Students wear sun- and/or neon colors – Tuesday, Oct. 23 • Throwback Tuesday- “Good Health and Drugs Don’t Mix.” Dress up in mismatched and or backwards/inside out clothes. – Wednesday, Oct. 24 • Workout Wednesday- “Be Heart Smart and Lead a Healthy Drug Free Life!” Wear athletic (gym) clothing to school. – Thursday, Oct. 25 • “Dreaming about a drug free future.”- Students wear appropriate pajamas. – Friday, Oct. 26 – – Future Friday…Begin with the End in Mind College Day…Wear College, sports team cloth- ing, and or your Clinton T-shirt. “Your Future is Key, So Stay Drug Free!”

• Discovery School - Oct. 29 - Nov. 2 - Monday, Oct. 29- “Team-up Against Drugs” Students wear their favorite sports team attire. – Decorate your classroom door to incorporate the 2018 theme! Doors will be judged on Friday Nov. 2. Winner earns an ice cream ! - Tuesday, Oct. 30- “Can’t Hide Your pride, Stomp out Drugs” Students are encouraged to wear camouflage colors or western attire to say no to drugs. - Wednesday, Oct. 31- “Friends Don’t Let Friends do Drugs” Students DRESS like their friend and help each other make GOOD choices. – We CAN say no to drugs. Students bring a canned food item that will be donated to HOPE. Names will be drawn, if students participated they will earn a prize. - Thursday, Nov. 1-“Your Future is Key, Stay Drug Free” Students are encouraged to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up. • Erwin Elementary – Oct. 26-31 – Friday, Oct. 26 “Say Boo to Drugs!” Laugh, have fun, and enjoy being drug-free at our fall . Students and faculty dress up in Halloween costumes, but may not wear masks or face paint. – Monday Oct. 29 “Team Up Against Drugs” Encourage your friends not to take drugs. Students and faculty wear their favorite sports team shirt or team colors. – Tuesday, Oct. 30 “Crazy , Socks, & Day” Stay clear minded, and don’t let drugs make you crazy! Students and faculty dress in their silliest hats, socks and shoes! – Wednesday, Oct. 31 “Achieve Your Dreams by Staying Drug-Free” It is Halloween, so let’s be comfy for the day. Students and faculty wear their pajamas and bedroom slippers. Pajamas must come to the knees, and shoulders must be covered. Students may creep through the office for some treats, if they would like to participate.

• Harrisburg Elementary - Oct. 22-26 – Monday, Oct. 22 • ”Our future is so bright we have to wear shades!” – Students wear sunglasses and/or neon colors – Tuesday, Oct. 23 • ”Dreaming about a drug free future.” – Students wear dress code appropriate pajamas – Wednesday, Oct. 24 • ”I’m a jean-ious at making healthy choices.” – Students wear jeans and a red or spirit wear – Thursday, Oct. 25 • ”Safe & healthy from head to toe.” – Students wear a hat and/or crazy socks – Friday, Oct. 26 • ”Don’t get mixed up in drugs!” – Students wear mismatched clothes

• Heath Springs Elementary - Oct. 29 - Nov. 2 Everyone will be given a red ribbon on Monday. The ribbon your class is given on Monday needs to be worn every day. If a student’s name is selected, and they’re wearing their ribbon, they will receive free ice cream. Teachers, also! – Monday, Oct. 29 • Morning announcements will include a brief history of Red Ribbon Week. Theme is Color War. Each grade level wears a certain color. Pre-K & K-Blue 1st- Red 2nd- Green 3rd- Orange 4th- Purple 5th- Pink Specials and Office- Yellow

Homeroom classes sign the pledge in main hall & get a red ribbon sticker. – Wednesday, Oct. 24 • Be heart smart and lead a healthy drug free life - wear a t-shirt & – Thursday, Oct. 25 • Be on a drug free team - Wear favorite sports team shirt with dress code bottoms – Friday, Oct. 26 • Love yourself, be drug free - wear a red shirt and PTO dress down day, must pay $2. – Monday, Oct. 29 • Stick to your drug free life-style - wear your red ribbon sticker and have free dress down day • Kershaw Elementary - Oct. 29 - Nov. 2 – Monday, Oct. 29 • “Follow your dreams and stay drug free”– wear pajamas. – Tuesday, Oct. 30 • “Hats off to drug free” – wear hats. – Wednesday, Oct. 31 • “Have good character and say no to drugs” – dress as favorite character. – Thursday, Nov. 1 • “Drugs turn you Wacky Tacky” – wear wacky tacky clothes, socks and hair. – Friday, Nov. 2 • “Team up against drugs” – wear favorite team jerseys. • Lancaster High - Oct. 22 - 26 The Civinettes and Junior Civitans team up to promote Red Ribbon Week. Students will sign pledges to be drug free during lunches all week. Names of students who signed the pledge will be displayed in the cafeteria. Announcements with anti-drug messages will also be made during the week. • McDonald Green Elementary - Oct. 29- Nov. 2 Parents are encouraged to talk about living a safe and healthy drug-free lifestyle and saying no to drugs. They are encouraged to share the dangers and lifetime effects of drugs and alcohol. – Monday, Oct. 29 • Turn your back on drugs – Wear your shirt backwards.

The theme this year is “Life Is Your Journey, Travel Drug Free!” Students are encouraged to participate in the fun dress-up activi- ties each day. All students will receive a drug free sticker and pencil. – Monday, Oct. 15 • Put First Things First on Marvelous Monday…. After getting a good night’s sleep, wear your favorite pajamas to school. “Follow Your Dreams, Don’t Do Drugs!” Giveaway - Emoji Keychain Mini Cute Plush Pillows – Tuesday, Oct. 16 • Synergize on Twinning Tuesday….Work together with a friend to wear matching outfits or wear the color red instead. “We’re RED-Y to Live a Drug Free Life!” Giveaway- Doublemint gum – Wednesday, Oct. 17 • Sharpen the Saw with Work Out Wednesday….Wear athletic (gym) clothing to school. “Be Heart Smart and Lead a Healthy Drug Free Life!” Giveaway - Sneaker Keychain/Heart lollipops – Thursday, Oct. 18 • Be Proactive on Thinking Thursday….Wear a favorite hat to school. “Put a Cap on Drugs by Making Good Choices.” Giveaway - Mini rubics cube – Friday, Oct. 19 • Begin with the End in Mind for College and Career Day on Future Friday….
