October 23-31 is designated National Red Ribbon Week, when pledges are made to present a unified and visible commitment toward the creation of a Drug-Free America. Some of our schools have activities planned during different weeks of October. • A.R. Rucker Middle – Oct. 2-6 – Monday, Oct. 2 • Red day-wear red from head to toe to raise drug awareness – Tuesday, Oct. 3 • Give drugs the - in western wear – Wednesday, Oct. 4 • Don’t get mixed up in drugs-wear mixed matched clothes – Thursday, Oct. 5 • Lei off drugs-wear your Hawaiian or Lei – Friday, Oct. 6 • Door decoration contest judged (already a dress down day) • Andrew Jackson Middle - Oct. 23-27 – Monday, Oct. 23 • I am a “jean-us,” I’m drug-free- Wear and a red shirt – Tuesday, Oct. 24 • You won’t see me using drugs- Wear camouflage – Wednesday, Oct. 25 • Team up against drugs- Dress to represent your favorite team – Thursday, Oct. 26 • I’m drug-free from head to toes.- Crazy hair, crazy , crazy clothes – Friday, Oct. 27 • I have the power to say “No”- Dress as a super hero

(Continued on next page) • Brooklyn Springs Elementary - Oct. 23-27 The theme this year is “Your future is key, so stay drug free!” – Monday • Kickoff Red Ribbon Week!!! RED-Y to be Drug Free. (Students and staff wear red). Students and staff will also sign Red Ribbon Week Banner. – Tuesday • Follow your Dreams. Don’t Do Drugs!!! (Students and staff wear ). – Wednesday • Put a on Drugs. (Students and staff wear favorite ). Annual canned food drive will begin!!! (The class that collects the most canned goods by Friday, October 27, will receive a yummy popcorn surprise!!! All canned goods will be donated to HOPE of Lancaster). – Thursday • BSE is Teaming Up Against Drugs (Students and staff wear your favorite team gear). Cafeteria will provide as many red food choices for lunch. – Friday • Have a ”Walk All Over Drugs!” (Walk laps around school playground.) This walk will be led by members of Girls On The Run Club who will carry a Red Ribbon Week banner. • Buford Elementary - Oct. 16-20 Every class will learn the importance of remaining drug free and safe. Classes will discuss these issues during their 30 minute guidance classes. – Monday, Oct. 16 • “Follow your dreams, Don’t do drugs” – Wear pajamas. – Tuesday, Oct. 17 • “Don’t get mixed up with drugs” – Wear mix and match or mismatched . – Wednesday, Oct. 18 • “Don’t get hooked on drugs” – Wear your camouflage an/or fishing attire with jeans. – Thursday, Oct. 19 • “Team up against drugs” – Students can wear their favorite sports team shirt or and jeans. – Friday Oct. 20 • “Take a picture of me, I’m drug free!” – wear your picture day clothing or semi-formal attire • Buford Middle - Oct. 23-27 – Monday, Oct. 23 • United We Stand – Tuesday, Oct. 24 • Don’t Let Drugs Tie you Up – Wednesday, Oct. 25 • Tell Drugs to take a Hike – Thursday, Oct. 26 • Team Up against Drugs – Friday, Oct. 27 – – “Be a Buddy and say No to drugs together!” Culminating activity in gym during exploratory

Don’t use drugs!” – Students dress in their favorite hero attire. No masks may be worn.

• Harrisburg Elementary - Oct. 23-27 – Monday, Oct. 23 • ”Our future is so bright we have to wear shades!” – Students wear and/or neon colors – Tuesday, Oct. 24 • ”Dreaming about a drug free future.” – Students wear dress code appropriate pajamas – Wednesday, Oct. 25 • ”I’m a jean-ious at making healthy choices.” – Students wear jeans and a red or spirit wear – Thursday, Oct. 26 • ”Safe & healthy from head to toe.” – Students wear a hat and/or crazy socks – Friday, Oct. 27 • ”Don’t get mixed up in drugs!” – Students wear mismatched clothes

• Heath Springs Elementary - Oct. 23-27 Everyone will be given a red ribbon on Monday. The ribbon your class is given on Monday needs to be worn every day. If a student’s name is selected, and they’re wearing their ribbon, they will receive free ice cream. Teachers, also! – Monday, Oct. 23 • Morning announcements will include a brief history of Red Ribbon Week. Theme is ”Red”-Y to live a Drug Free Life – Students wear red to school. – Tuesday, Oct. 24 • Theme is ”Team Up Against Drugs.” – Wear your favorite team attire. (Continued on next page) • Lancaster High - Oct. 23 - 27 The Civinettes and Junior Civitans team up to promote Red Ribbon Week. Students will sign pledges to be drug free during lunches all week. Names of students who signed the pledge will be displayed in the cafeteria. Announcements with anti-drug messages will also be made during the week. • McDonald Green Elementary - Oct. 23-27 Parents are encouraged to talk about living a safe and healthy drug-free lifestyle and saying no to drugs. They are encouraged to share the dangers and lifetime effects of drugs and alcohol. – Monday, Oct. 23 • Turn your back on drugs – Wear your shirt backwards. – Tuesday, Oct. 24 • Your choices are the key to your dreams – Wear your pajamas. – Wednesday, Oct. 25 • Put a lid on drugs – Wear a hat. – Thursday, Oct. 26 • Bullying and drugs are wacky and tacky – Dress in your tackiest clothing. – Friday, Oct. 27 • Team up against drugs – Wear your favorite sports team’s gear and pair it with jeans • North Elementary - Oct. 16-20 The week of Oct.16-20 is Red Ribbon Week at North Elementary! The theme this year is “Your future is key, so stay drug free!” Prizes will be given randomly to several students who participate. – Monday, Oct. 16 • Marvelous Monday...Wear your favorite pajamas to school. “Follow Your Dreams, Don’t Do Drugs!” – Tuesday, Oct. 18 • Trolling Tuesday... Dress up like a Troll by wearing bright colors and having crazy hair. “Don’t let Drugs Troll your life!” Students will listen and dance to Trolls “Can’t Stop the Feeling” Go Noodle Dance Break in their classrooms. – Wednesday, Oct. 19 • Sharpen the Saw with Work Out Wednesday... Wear athletic (gym) clothing to school. “Be Heart Smart and Lead a Healthy Drug Free Life!” – Thursday, Oct. 20 • Throwback Thursday... Dress up in mismatched or or backwards/inside out clothes. “Good Health and Drugs Don’t Mix!” – Friday, Oct. 21 • Future Friday... Begin with the End in Mind College Day... Wear college, sports team clothing, or your North T-shirt. “Your Future Is Key, So Stay Drug Free!” • South Middle - Oct. 27-28 – Thursday, Oct. 27 • “ It To Drugs – Everyone is encouraged to wear crazy socks” – Friday, Oct. 28 • Too Professional For Drugs – Everyone is encouraged to dress up. Students will look at special articles that focus on drug prevention during literacy time each morning.
