Otley Branch Closure Review Otley Branch Closure Review Our Otley branch is closing in June We’ve put together this guide to share with you how we’ve made the decision and let you know about other ways to bank with us. We’ve noticed the way our customers like to do their everyday banking is changing. And we’ve used this information to help us decide what changes to make. To make sure we’re offering our customers the right services in the right places, we’re investing £250 million into our branches and digital services. We’ll be improving some branches to offer better digital technology and opening some new ones, but this does mean closing some too. Following a careful and full review, we’ll be closing our Otley branch in June. There are a number of other branches you can visit, the closest one is Ilkley, and you can also use our Shipley branch. This guide will tell you more about the review and our Partners are always on hand if you’d like to speak to them in person. Who we spoke to What was said • The local Member of Parliament, Greg • TSB was asked about the impact of the closure Mulholland MP. on those customers who are most vulnerable to branch closures. • Representatives of the Otley and Yeadon ward of Leeds City Council. • TSB was asked about access to alternative ATMs and other local banking services, including its agreement • Otley and District Chamber of Trade with the Post Office. and Commerce. • TSB was also asked about what the closure will mean • Local Federation of Small Businesses. for TSB Partners who work at the Otley branch. • Citizens Advice Bureau. What we’ve done • We’ve written to our customers to let them know about the closure and the different ways they can bank with us. This information is available in our Otley branch, as well as online. • Partners in our Otley branch have been chatting to customers, including those who are most vulnerable to branch closures – answering questions, discussing concerns, giving advice on alternative travel arrangements and how they can get to other branches and alternative ATMs. This has included informing customers about the opening hours of other nearby branches. • TSB is also offering customers ‘Get Me Started’ appointments, which help customers register for and use online, mobile and telephone banking. • TSB has an arrangement with the Post Office. Personal customers are able to use any Post Office branch which offers financial services, including the local branch on Nelson Street, to check their balance, make cash withdrawals and make cash and cheque deposits. • There will be no job losses as a result of this change.     Our ref: 2387/21 Figures for incidents of drink spiking in your region over the last 5 years (year by year) I would appreciate it if the figures can be broken down to the nearest city/town. Can you also tell me the number of prosecutions there have been for the above offences and how many of those resulted in a conviction? Please see the attached document. West Yorkshire Police receive reports of crimes that have occurred following a victim having their drink spiked, crimes such as rape, sexual assault, violence with or without injury and theft. West Yorkshire Police take all offences seriously and will ensure that all reports are investigated. Specifically for victims of rape and serious sexual offences, depending on when the offence occurred, they would be offered an examination at our Sexual Assault Referral Centre, where forensic samples, including a blood sample for toxicology can be taken, with the victim’s consent, if within the timeframes and guidance from the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine. West Yorkshire Police work with support agencies to ensure that all victims of crime are offered support through the criminal justice process, including specialist support such as from Independent Sexual Violence Advisors. Before we finalíse our position and recommend the sale for approval your comments on the proposal are welcome so they can be considered. It is proposed the sale will be to Mandale Homes, who intend to convert the building to 21 new homes. lnitial proposals are that fourteen apartments will have one bedroom each ranging ín size from 470sqft to 805sqft, and seven apartments will have two bedrooms each ranging in size from 750sqft to 960sqft. A plan is attached showing the possible layout of the apartments. Mandale will provide the 35% policy complíant number of affordable units in the property. Walk down Otley Old Road and through the first set of wooden access gates. This was the original route to Otley and was used by all traffic. It is now a public bridleway and is open to cyclists, pedestrians and vehicles requiring local access. This is now a nice saunter down a quiet country lane, and so difficult to believe that at one time – not so long ago – it was heaving with traffic. There are nice views across to the Chevin on your right. Further down, there are views on your left across meadow–land through which the Burley Bypass now runs.

    iWHARFE Improving water quality on the River Wharfe from Oughtershaw to the Ouse: a citizen science project Ilkley Clean River Group, The Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust, Addingham Environment Group, Otley 2030, Otley Angling Club, Boston Spa, Wetherby & Villages Community Green Group, the Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water and the Wild Trout Trust Background In 2018 the Ilkley Clean River Group (ICRG) was formed to draw attention to problems of untreated sewage discharge into the River Wharfe in Ilkley from the Ashlands Sewage Treatment Works. In 2019 there were 136 storm discharge events. The group’s campaign has attracted national media attention. The campaign was supported by a local citizen science study of faecal bacteria concentrations in the water and surveys of people at risk of infection playing, paddling and swimming in the river in Ilkley. The group has submitted a bid for Designated Bathing Water Status, supported by Ilkley Town Council, Bradford Metropolitan District Council, the Environment Agency and Yorkshire Water to Defra.
