Postgame Notes & Quotes Stars 7, Avalanche 2 Sunday, December 3, 2017

The Avalanche is now 2-2-0 against the Stars in the 2017-18 season series with one more matchup remaining, Jan. 13 at Dallas.

Erik Johnson skated in his 600th NHL game.

The Avs finished 0-for-3 on the power play tonight, just the third time this season that Colorado has been held without a man-advantage tally at home. All three games in which the Avalanche has been scoreless on the power play have come against Dallas (Oct. 24, 0-for-3; Nov. 22, 0-for-3).

Tyson Barrie finished with a season-high six shots.

Nathan MacKinnon registered his team-leading 21st assist of the season, which is tied for sixth among NHL skaters.

With a two- outing, extended his point streak to three games. He now has six points (3g, 3a) against the Avalanche this season, tied with teammate (2g, 4a) for the most points by a single player against Colorado in 2017-18.

Brett Ritchie’s two-goal performance is a career high.

The Stars scored a season-high seven goals, which also matches a season high for goals allowed by the Avalanche (Oct. 27 at Vegas).

Colorado RW On The Avs’ Performance Tonight: “Nothing was working actually, we lost 7-2. It’s 2-1 and then they score two goals again, it’s 4-1 but then we get it to 4-2 but it wasn’t good enough, that’s the main point.”

On Playing Against Buffalo On Tuesday: “I think you have to look at it like a must-win, it’s like a playoff game for us. It’s a five-game homestand, we are 1-3 right now. We have to win the last game. Everybody needs to get ready tomorrow and make sure we are out battling the opponent on [Tuesday].”

Colorado D On The Avs’ Homestand: “We’ve been great at home. The last couple of games, we’ve been a little lethargic and that’s on the leaders of the team to make sure we start the game off right and we haven’t. Like I mentioned, we can’t let them to do that to us based on them coming off a back-to-back and we were rested. It’s frustrating. The onus is on the leadership. You know, we’ll take responsibility for that because we have to make sure everyone is ready to play and everybody wasn’t ready to play tonight and that’s on us.”

On The First Period As Of Late: “We’re flat. I mean, we come out and the other teams are outskating us, they are out-forechecking us. It’s frustrating because we have been good at home and a team that’s really been tough to play against lately and the last couple of games haven’t been that way. It’s got to change and we’ll rectify it and make sure it does.”

Dallas C Tyler Seguin On The Week: “It wasn’t as much the back-to-back it was more the three [games] in four [days]. Those last two games weren’t really hockey games, they were playoff games. There’s a lot of emotion and we are tying and in a shootout. I think the energy was lacking tonight. I don’t know how it looked from up top but it was how we controlled our energy. It was with great purpose tonight, great poise with the puck and with the plays, and getting the first goal with the lines all crazy. Through the whole lineup it was a great night for everybody.”

On The Team’s Performance: “It wasn’t just our line it was the whole team. Even Kari (Dallas G ) made some key saves at times, so a lot of good things. Great week for us. Closed the chapter of the week and kind of get ready for some more tough hockey.”

Dallas D On His Goal: “It’s always fun to score goals and we don’t do it often so it’s a little more special. It was good, Rads (Dallas RW ) was able to draw everyone down to the net and the puck popped out. I know I have a good so I just let it rip.”

On The Team’s Performance: “It’s good to get contribution from everywhere. I think that is huge. We have a lot of contributions from our top line there but we need some secondary scoring and I think with these last four or five games we have really shown that.”
