1. Rob Johnston 2. Norm Stowe 3. Ed Hird 1. Rob Johnston I have been an active member and Director with the EDA since my retirement as the Director Enforcement with the CBSA. I have supported the EDA by: volunteering in three elections; serving as EDA Secretary for three years and most recently as Financial Agent for 2018, 2019 and to date in 2020. I have proactively managed the EDA finances to ensure we are always ready to fight an unexpected election by ensuring we always have enough in the bank to immediately fully fund a campaign. I enjoy working for the EDA and look forward to doing so in the future with your support. 2. Norm Stowe My family and I have lived in the Cloverdale portion of the riding for 33 years. In addition to owning a media relations and public affairs firm with offices in Vancouver and Victoria, I have served on the boards of the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the YMCA’s Regional Capital Campaign Committee. My first Tory campaign was 1974, knocking on doors for Robert Stanfield. I’ve been an active member of the party ever since and have been proud to serve since 2016 on our board. If I am given the opportunity to continue on the board I’m looking forward to helping our party and its new leader build an inclusive party where every Canadian feels at home and gets a chance to better understand our values as Conservatives. 3. Ed Hird Rev Dr Ed Hird has been living in South Surrey since 2017. With a degree in Social work, Ed appreciates compassionate conservatism that cares for the most vulnerable. He served on the North Shore for 31 years as an Anglican pastor and newspaper columnist and author. Ed became involved in Federal Poltics, especially during elections, while in North Vancouver. Doorknocking is seen by Ed as a key to winning elections. He has personally visited 20,000 homes in North Vancouver and more recently 7,100 homes in South Surrey/White Rock during the recent Federal election. 4. Elaine Allan, BA, MBA Elaine Allan is a conservative business executive who has led non-profit organizations through phases of unprecedented growth. In 2015 Elaine ran for the Conservative Party of Canada in Vancouver Centre. Vancouver ridings, as many other Canadian urban centers, have become safe seats for left-leaning parties largely supported by third parties. After the 2015 defeat of Canada’s Conservative government, Elaine worked with grassroots activists to research third party election spending and identify the roots of the socialist surge now impacting Canadian elections. In 2017 and 2019 Elaine volunteered on South Surrey White Rock’s federal campaigns. During this time Elaine made many friends in the riding and would like to continue her volunteer work to ensure South Surrey White Rock remains a Conservative seat. 5. Anne Bonner My name is Anne Bonner and my husband is Joe. We have been married for 28 years and we are the parents of three young adult daughters. I have worked in government as a Constituency Assistant for many years with both the Federal and Provincial governments. I have significant training in mediation and negotiations through the Justice Institute of BC and I am a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits in British Columbia. My husband, Joe, works in law enforcement and is a veteran of the US Navy. My knowledge and love for politics has been a big part of my life since high school and that passion remains the same today. I gained my love of politics from my dad at an early age as he was instrumental in the formation of the Reform Party in BC. I am a current member of the Board of Directors at White Rock Christian Academy as well as the Board of Directors for the Delta Conservative Electoral District Association, the Delta BC Liberal Riding Association, the Surrey White Rock BC Liberal Riding Association, and the White Rock South Surrey Leadership Prayer Breakfast. I have also been a member of the White Rock Christian Academy Society since 2007. I am a firm believer in giving back to the community and our family is dedicated to volunteering with a variety of charities and civic organizations. Joe and I enjoy quality time with our family by connecting through games nights, tennis, and political banter. 6. Holly Scott I have resided in White Rock/South Surrey since 1994. From 1989 to 1994 our family resided in France and Hong Kong as expatriates. Prior to leaving Canada we were residents of North Delta and Surrey. I am married with three adult off-spring and two grandchildren. I previously worked at the Insurance Corporation of BC for 18 years as a claim representative and bodily injury adjuster. My husband and I started the Equitas Disabled Soldiers Funding Society in 2011 after our son was injured in Afghanistan and I sit on the Board of Directors as acting secretary. I am on the Board of Directors of Tabitha Foundation Canada, a fundraising arm of Tabitha Cambodia which helps the poorest of Cambodia lift themselves out of poverty. Currently I am working on a Master of Arts in Global Leadership through Royal Roads University and which will be completed in February 2021. I have been a member of the White Rock South Surrey EDA board since 2014 and would like to continue to serve the community again in that position for 2020/2021. 7. Chip Bowness Chip is a retired senior military Officer who served Canada in several assignments in Canada as well as in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Since returning to White Rock in November 2017 Chip has volunteered as an Honorary member with the Rotary Club of South Surrey, while retaining a direct role in international assistance in a hospice and a children’s home project in Thailand and Cambodia, doing hands on volunteering for 70 days on site in 2019, via continued membership in the Rotary Club of Bangkok South. He also joined the Conservative Party of Canada and assisted with the South Surrey White Rock Campaign in 2019 and is a member of the City of White Rock Housing Advisory Committee. He and his wife Dawn Lynn previously lived in Bangkok from 2005-2015. They have one son and two grandchildren. In 1998 he became the first person ever to paraglide in Cambodia and is a sailing instructor with offshore and racing experience and continues a long-term interest in healthy living, so long as it includes German beer. 8. Hardy Staub Unfortunately due the epidemic, our Riding AGM will have to be in Zoom style, and we can only talk and watch each other via electronic devices. In addition, members of our Party seeking a Board membership on our Riding Association, have been asked to submit their biography in writing, using no more than 230 words. So here is a short history of who I am, was, and accomplishments. Served 7 years in the Canadian Armed Forces and retired to attend University, Sir George Williams and Carleton University. Subsequently undertook Flight Training, and ended up as the Chief Flight Instructor for that same school. I was hired by the Airlines, and due in time became a Captain, of the various airlines, ie. Quebecair, PWA, Canadian Airlines and finally Air Canada. While thus employed I was honored and fortunate to served our community as follows: 1. President of my Rotary club, and two years later served as the District Governor of Rotary International District 5050. 2. Served In elected office for 17 years, the last those 9 years as the Mayor and Vice Chair of the GVRD (Metro Vancouver). In addition besides my airline and mayor job, served on our Board of Commerce, and other community organizations. I need your help to leading and ensuring that our riding stays Conservative. 9. Paul Schwartz I have been a member of our EDA board of directors for six years. Also I have served as our elected Secretary for the last few years. In 2017 and again in 2019 I served as chair of the Candidate Nomination Committee which oversaw our nomination elections. In 2016 and 2018 I have attended the national conventions as part of the South Surrey – White Rock delegation. In the last several elections in this riding I have volunteered in various capacities during the campaign, served as a poll captain and have been our scrutineer at the advance polls ballot count. I have also chaired and served on committees which have organized various initiatives and participated in community events. As part of my involvement with our EDA I have taken both Elections Canada and CPC courses and regularly review related information. This year I have been attending BC CPC Presidents' Council meetings along with our President. I am a regular annual donor to our EDA and have been in the "Blue Diamond" group in prior years when we ran that program. I believe that our EDA board should continue to try to have sufficient funds always to be able to contest two federal elections within a 12 to 18 month time span. I think of us as like trustees for our donors' money and believe that we must make our spending decisions accordingly. I live and own a business in this riding. 10. Michael Pavlic After serving a term on the Electoral District Association Board, I believe that I have and that I can continue to make a difference. With a legal, political, consulting, and dispute resolution background, I look forward to earning your support to continue my work with the Board.
