Czech Greenways and Cyclists Welcome The idea of greenways as a way to facilitate a unique cultural and environmental experience and exchange between visitors and residents along the way was brought to Czechoslovakia in 1991 by a Czech-American Lubomír Chmelař from New York. Greenways are green corridors for recreation and non-motorized commuting. They use paths along rivers and creeks or former railways. Czech Greenways together with its cycle-friendly service certifi cation Cyklisté vítáni (Cyclists Welcome) are managed by Nadace Partnerství foundation. In Prague, you can also bike or hike additional Greenways such as the Botič and Rokytka Greenways along attractive creeks, and the Vítkov rail-trail in the city center.
