Mit seinen jungen 23 Jahren ist der Grammy- nominierte Künstler VIC MENSA bereits ein wichtiger Teil der Chicagoer Musikszene. Nachdem er zuerst das SAVEMONEY Kollektiv mitbegründet und zwei Mixtapes in ebenso vielen Jahren herausgebracht hat, unterschrieb er als Solokünstler bei der Roc Nation Familie. Anfang des Jahres erschien VIC MENSAS gefeierte EP “There’s Alot Going On”, auf welcher unter anderem die starken Songs “16 Shots”, der die Erschießung des Chicagoer Teenagers Laquan McDonald thematisiert, und “Shades of Blue”, der sich um die Wasserkrise in Flint dreht, zu finden sind. Zurzeit befindet sich VIC MENSA auf Tour und trat unter anderem auf dem Wireless Festival, Governors Ball Festival, 2015 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Lollapalooza und vielen mehr auf. Ebenfalls mit dabei sein werden THE KNOCKS aus New York. Ihr Debütalbum “55” ist ein triumphales und resolutes DIY Dance Album, das den Puls und die Energie ihrer Heimatstadt reflektiert. Es ist ein Liebesbrief an die alte Art Musik zu machen - und die klassische Geschichte zweier Kids, die nach NYC kamen um den Durchbruch zu schaffen.     1 ABSTRACT This dissertation traces the historical genealogy of the term “subtle body,” following it from its initial coinage among the Cambridge Platonists back to the Neoplatonic sources from which they drew, then forward into Indology, Theosophy, Carl Jung, and the American Counterculture, showing the expansion of the term’s semantic range to include Sanskrit, Tibetan, and Chinese materials. 2 Acknowledgements First thanks go to my committee members.
