A number of medieval and post medieval pits and post holes were identified across the site. Footings to a stone structure of possible medieval/post-medieval date were also identified. Leather remains were recovered from on of the pits associated with the shoe makers that was formerly on the site. An archaeological feature containing medieval pottery was discovered in the middle of the development site, and interpreted as a pond. A number of 12th century pits, post holes, and ditches were identified on the site. These features may have been associated with the medieval planned town. Residual early medieval finds were also recovered from the site. Bronze Age and Iron Age occupation deposits were recovered from the site. Two area of Roman settlement enclosures were identified on the site. Area 1 dated to the 1st to 4th centuries, area 2 the 2nd to 4th centuries. The trenching component revealed a number of ditches. Most were undated but some were identified as Roman in origin. Evidence for possible Roman quarrying was revealed in two trenches. Several pits and ditches dating to the early medieval period cut the deposits that had accumulated within the possible quarry pits.
