e rst Rogers’ Chocolates were made in 1885 by Charles Rogers in the back of his grocery shop. In 1903, he constructed a building across the street and subsequently moved his chocolate shop into that location in 1917. If you look closely at the picture on this tin you can see the original Rogers’ Chocolate shop on the le side of the street and what would later be his permanent location (W.B. SHAKESPEARE) on the right side of the street. Today, the building is designated a heritage site and remains our home. Charles Rogers and his wife Leah, gave the City of Victoria many wonderful gis, including our 913 Government Street store and of course, our world famous, hand-wrapped chocolates.
