The Iowa State men’s and women’s cross country teams will be looking to defend their 31 Hawkeye Invitational Big 12 titles in 2018. The Cyclones are set to host the 2018 Big 12 Championship on Oct. W: 1st; M: 1st 26 at the ISU Cross Country Course. SEPTEMBER 2. Last season, both teams were victorious at the conference championship. It was the 28 Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational women’s sixth Big 12 title in the last seven seasons and the men’s first ever Big 12 title and W: 9th; M: 4th first conference championship since 1994. The last time both teams won the conference title in the same season was 1990. OCTOBER 3. Coming into the postseason, the men are ranked No. 6 nationally in the USTFCCCA 12 Bradley Pink Classic National Coaches’ Poll, while the women are ranked No. 17. Both squads hold the top W: 1st spot in the Big 12 rankings and the Midwest Regional rankings. 26 Big 12 Championship 4. On the men’s side, it was a short but sweet regular season. They took first at the Hawkeye Invitational and posted an impressive fourth-place finish at the prestigious Nuttycombe Ames, Iowa Invitational, which featured seven of the nation’s top-10 teams. NOVEMBER 5. Individually, All-American Edwin Kurgat finished runner-up at the Nuttycombe. He was 9 NCAA Midwest Regional awarded Big 12 Runner of the Week honors for his outstanding performance. Peoria, Ill. 6. Iowa State returns a plethora of experience from its 2017 squad that finished seventh at the NCAA Championships. PEORIA, Ill. – The No. 15 Iowa State women’s cross country team took home first place at the 2018 Bradley Pink Classic on Friday afternoon. In total, the 34. Larkin Chapman, 21:31.3 Cyclones had five runners finish in the top-25 individually to post a team 61. Morgan Gigandet, 21:53.8 score of 51, which was 89 points clear of second-place South Dakota.

Iowa State was led once again by sophomore Cailie Logue. Logue finished Team Scores (Top-10 out of 43 Total Teams) first overall in a time of 20:32.6. This was Logue’s second individual title of 1. The Iowa State women will return to Peoria, Ill. and Newman Course on Friday, Nov. 9 when they take on the field at the NCAA Midwest Regional Open Race Results Championship. 1. - Adriana Kammerer, 21:58.5 4. - Erinn Stenman-Fahey, 22:30.4 Open Race Iowa State’s Adriana Kammerer took first place in the Women’s 6k Open Race to begin the day. She ran the 6k course in 21:48.5. Erinn Stenman-Fahey also ran a tough race, taking fourth place in the field of 117 runners in 22:30.4.
