The ILCA World Council established the selection criteria for entry as individuals who, over the course of their sailing careers, made an outstanding impact on the Laser Class and the sport of sailboat racing by virtue of the excellence of their achievements as sailors and/or contributors to competitive sailing through technical expertise, design, writing or vision. I hope all the Australian and international Laser sailors will enjoy strong and fair competition at this great venue for this regatta. We should see some of the finest exponents of Laser sailing in action here over the coming week. I would like to thank the Belmont 16's Sailing Club for their hosting of this event and their provision of such first rate sailing facilities for us to enjoy. Thanks also to the many volunteers who will willing give their time to ensure that this regatta runs smoothly. Without these folk we would not be able to stage this event.
