AU�s Bryant earns weekly men�s honors from ECAC and Empire 8 12/14/04

ALFRED, NY Quentin Bryant (Buffalo, NY/Seneca Vocational), a guard on the men's basketball team, has been named ECAC and Empire 8 Conference Co-Player of the Week. This marks the second week Bryant has been named Upstate Player of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the third straight week honored by the Empire 8.Bryant was recognized after averaging 23.6 points per game this week, helping the Saxons take two of three games. In a 93-82 win over Genseo on Wednesday, Dec. 7, Bryant scored 21 points to go along with three rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots. On Friday, Dec. 10, Bryant shot 75 percent from the floor and made all five free throws for 24 points in the team's 95-79 loss to Potsdam. He also added three rebounds and one steal. Against St. Lawrence University the following night, he led the Saxons to their fifth victory of the season, netting 26 points and grabbing five rebounds. Bryant hit 9-of-17 shots including five three-pointers.Bryant shared the weekly ECAC and Empire 8 honors with senior guard Jeff Sidney from St. John Fisher College, who averaged 16 points and nine rebounds in two games.Empire 8 member schools include Alfred University, , , , Nazareth College, Rochester Institute of Technology, St. John Fisher College and .AU (5-3, 0-0 Empire 8) is in action next on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 8 p.m. in the first round of the Kings College Tournament, when they will face off against Kings College.
