Haven't read the original novel although I read the first two in the seriesbut from flicking through this graphic novel adaptation seems to capture the essence of the story. Exciting James Bond Jr story for middle schoolers. As with all books and movies of this nature, there are lots of convenient plot points, but still enjoyable if you ignore that. Love the new cover! Feb 03, Caleb rated it really liked it. This book was super full of action, I really enjoy Alex rider. If you don't like blood don't read this book. Feb 12, Donna Luu rated it liked it. It is so sad that Sarov suicides himself and doesn't kill Alex. Dec 24, Online Eccentric Librarian rated it really liked it Shelves: childrensurban-fantasygraphic-novels. The manga style artwork is very suited to the over the top aspects of the story Skeleton Key Graphic Novel the translation to the graphic novel format is solid. I have no problem following the story and the action is well done. Alex Rider finds himself pulled back into Mi6 duty, this time on a 'holiday' in Skeleton Key Graphic Novel to investigate a rogue KGB agent. He's playing the son of two American CIA agents to gain access to the island on the pretense of a family vacation. What he finds on the quay "Skeleton Key" forces him to race against the clock to stop a madman from detonating a nuclear bomb that will annihilate most of Europe. As with all of Horowitz' stories, other cultures especially American are completely derided and skewed, almost in a stereotypical manner the petty wealthy megalomaniac with a small mind was American, the emotionless, determined, soldier general a Russian, etc. Cultures fare no better in this book but that's all the fun, Skeleton Key Graphic Novel up anyone against the British empire. Making the villains cartoony keeps the read light and fun and within the realm of obvious fiction. The illustrations are consistent and strong, with Skeleton Key Graphic Novel color panels well assembled to keep the story moving. At no time do I lost the story or am unable to follow what is going on as Skeleton Key Graphic Novel so easily with graphic novel translations. Of course, the fun is to see how Alex will use the gadgets he's given to get out of bad situations. In all, a really fun serious for boys and girls alike. He starts out feeling like a third wheel, but when the two CIA operatives go missing and Alex discovers they are likely dead, it is up to him to figure out what a former Russian general is planning to do with nuclear materials. Once again, this series does a good job of giving a good flavor for the original novel. This also marks the turn in the series where things start to get a little more serious and deadly on a regular basis, but the graphic novel adaptors were able to convey that without massive gore. Or to find himself back, once again, in the London headquarters of the Special Operations division of MI6. The fact that he was still breathing was, he knew, entirely because of Sabina.
